http://newsfeed.leedsvirtualnewsroom.co.uk/2014/02/bridgewater-place-junction-closure-today.html Leeds is going to be busy this afternoon and this evening with roads round Bridgewater Place closed due to the wind. Heavy rain here at the moment with strong winds and cold.
Yes, once this first lot had gone through there looks to be more following. I'm not sure where the lightning is but I've heard at least 5 rumbles in the last 10 mins or so.
Does the motorway follow a natural contour in the landscape? Was it easier for engineers to built the road along a valley bottom or something? The M4 also seems to be a regular weather barrier/border along with the M1 in Yorkshire.
Looking at the warning the majority of west Yorkshire and parts of North Yorkshire are encompassed in the amber area. I'm guessing the prediction is to be spawned to the west of the pennines and slowly drift east/north east before dying away
Quite a good day weather-wise for me. Woke by thunder at around 5.30am which continued for around 2 hours. Some very close lightning with instant cracks of thunder. Torrential rain left many roads flooded including the busy A644 where a bus got stuck in deep water.
Currently we have almost clear blue skies albeit with haze in the distance. Temperatures now up to 21C and rising rapidly. Still feels very humid out there.
Looking forward to a possible round two this evening!
Is that thin line of rain that is approaching Truro going to expand into anything? Could this be the instability that kick starts some storms later this evening?
Again looking at XC weather wind directions. I still think the Bristol area is the area to watch along with north Wales. Around Bristol in particular you have Filton with 10mph NNW and then just a few miles away Lulsgate 10mph SSE.
An area round the wash is also now showing signs of opposing wind directions so could be something to look out for.
