  1. We heard a battering on our warehouse roof this lunchtime in Cleckheaton so we went out to find some pretty decent hailstones coming down (about half an inch diameter at times) so I shot a quick video on my phone- not sure how it will come out but hopefully you get an idea. The guy exclaiming about how it was F**king bright sunshine an hour ago is Bob, our warehouse grumpy old man. Cheers BB
  2. Had the biggest hailstones ive seen in a long while half an hour ago here in cleckheaton. cant upload video on phone but will do this evening. bb
  3. Morning all! Don't you just love waking up to a thick blanket of snow on a sunny Sunday morning? I see the BBC website is giving Church Fenton the Number 1 spot with 16cm which I believe was reported on here last night. I'm about 8 miles west of there, 8 miles east of Leeds and I've measured an average of 14cm this morning, though its difficult to find somewhere that hasn't drifted. Drifts of over a foot in our garden is quite impressive I reckon! Anyway here's some pics of the garden and street and the last one hopefully shows just how much it got blown into piles. Have a great day everyone... BB
  4. Cheer up you lot down there if you're still waiting for the heavy stuff and worried its not coming... here's a preview video- I'm 8 miles from leeds at 86m above sea level, in the far more marginal (today) north of England and I've still got 15cm plus drifts outside. You lot will be rolling in it come morning! Night all! BB
  5. 14-15cm at least in Garforth, 8 miles east of Leeds, as of the end of the snow about 9pm this evening. I realise some might be skeptical of that so I added a photo I put in the regional thread about 2 hours before it ended! Cheers BB
  6. Well going by the radar it's dying off from now in West Yorks but I've just been out for a cig and there's at least 15cm in the bits where it hasn't drifted which is a lot more than I expected here. As a one-off event it certainly gives the past 2 years a good run for their money, but obviously its not part of such an epic spell as they were. Looking forward to seeing it in the daylight tomorrow! Hope my vids and pics cheered up anyone who was let down today, rather than just making them green with envy! I look forward to seeing everyone else's pics too! Night all! BB
  7. Right final one now I imagine but its an hour from when I measured 10cm level to when i filmed this and it's been like this pretty much throughout that time and still is so I'm thinking 15cm easy here come the end. This was at 7-30 by the way. Cheers BB
  8. I know how easy it is to be skeptical about others depths for those who are still waiting for theirs so here's confirmation (as much for me as anyone else) that I've surpassed the METOs 10cm warning!!! Woohoo! Incidently the drifted bits are a foot deep easily but I only have a 6-incher (ruler that is) so you'll have to take my word for it! bb
  9. Well it seems East Leeds has done amazingly well today- looking at the radar it does seem to have been more intense throughout as its passed leeds and I'm not far off the 10cm mark already- no exaggeration i promise! These three videos (apologies if they haven't come out too smoothly) were taken an hour ago about half past 5 and its been constant and heavy ever since. Looking forward to the grand total whatever that may be! bb
  10. Last one for the time being- taken about 4pm. Since then the intensity has if anything increased and the flakes are really quite big now, though the temp is still minus 0.9c. We have about 4cm lying as I speak. I may do another video later on by the lamp-post if anyone who has missed out fancys it! Cheers bb
  11. Hope all these videos aren't getting annoying... I'll just do one or 2 more depending on how things go.. This was about 3-30pm and still its coming down at a fairly heavy rate- we now have over an inch and its drifting in the drive as you'll see in the next video! bb
  12. This was shot about 3pm... we now have a full coverage of all the grass etc and temp is steady at minus 0.8c. bb
  13. The first of hopefully a few videos from the East side of Leeds... This was about 2pm just as it really got going- grass is now just about covered and still heavy horizontal snow. Radar looks ok to me for a fair while yet. Current temp minus 0.9c bb
  14. Whilst I'm on here I just had a question Ian... I know its laughable to ask this the way things currently are but what do I do if it snows? Do I need to take the guage and snow inside to melt it down or something? (Watch it not snow all winter now)! Anyway I can confirm Im keeping up with the measurements despite a scare when my mum nearly chucked the guage away thinking it was one of next door's fireworks! only problem is lack of rain- 25mm so far this month! Cheers bb
  15. Its no good... down to 27.9c and she's putting her clothes back on... story of my life!
  16. My God the woman on my weather station display can't take the heat any more- she's down to a Bikini!! What will happen if it hits 30??
  17. Yep i confirm the cell south of bradford is a storm. Heard 2 rumbles from cleckheaton. bb
  18. A video from work today showing some torrential rain, a waterfall off the old mill next door, a huge leak right by the warehouse electricity box thing and finally a member of my team getting over excited at the prospect of being on video! Hope this works lol! (best viewed in hd i think) bb
  19. This cloud from about 18:30 looking northeast is developing as it moves north.... Got a video of the monsoon at work today which I will try post later if I can figure it all out! bb
  20. I've got monday off work and would be up for driving down but with it being nearly the end of the month i cant really afford the petrol im afraid. Which sucks lol!
  21. Id love to go for a drive if it wasnt for the fact i cant afford any spare petrol lol! Any rich members up north feel like donating to the cause lol?? bb
  22. Distant thunder to the south now... if this hits I may finally get chance to try shooting some HD video on my new phone yay! bb
  23. Big drops of rain just started here though its still hazy sunshine. Dark to the South and Southwest though BB
  24. Well I set off from York in icy rain about 4am back to Garforth (East Leeds) where it was snowing with a dusting at 5ish... We're less than 100m asl here so was pleasantly suprised to wake up from my 3 hour nap to find this... Cheers BB
