  1. Current scene in Garforth, maybe a cm and coming down fairly well with flakes about a 6/10. 20210202_040640.mp4
  2. Gotta say I'm not at all convinced by the Amber warning, the band has already reached Dundee! It's snowing moderately, but no sign on radar of anything more than that imminent?
  3. Coming down heavier now, settling on all surfaces but just a dusting so far. Will soon start piling up at this intensity though. Flake size about a 5/10, bigger than 20 minutes ago.
  4. Ah we now have snow falling, light to moderate but the lights of East Leeds have disappeared looking west from here so heavy stuff close by. Settling immediately, no marginality at the moment. Met Office automated still going for snow until lunchtime but something will need to change with the speed of the front for that to be true. Got to drive from here to Cleckheaton for work around 5am so that will be interesting...
  5. Doesn't seem to be doing anything here yet, though the radar says it should be. Incidentally, seems to be miles ahead of schedule, not meant to reach here until 4am but its already knocking on the door of Edinburgh!
  6. Yes it's not great updates this morning I must say, presumably if the Met office really do think Tuesday is a hills only event, they will change the warnings this morning (again). Still the chance of improvements, I don't think a single snow event in England this month has gone as predicted by the Met Office. As for the proper cold spell later this week, going by the MOD, who knows! I won't be making any assumptions either way until at least the 12Z runs on Monday. Would be a hell of a change for it to go wrong completely, given the output/background signals/met office long ranger but it has happened before!
  7. Much as the ECM is the least good option for next weekend, what's this it's got for tomorrow night?!
  8. I believe it was because the warning start time was 11:45pm (?) on Monday evening. So they've actually only delayed it by 15 minutes! Agree with you that their warnings have been comically poor, especially the snow ones.
  9. I'm puzzled why the warning is for the pennines only if low ground could see several cm? Also plenty of hight ground in North Leeds not in the warning area?
  10. Yes here's hoping for an event we can all benefit from in the near future! Incidentally I drove through Horsforth a couple of weeks ago when it was buried in snow on a Friday lunchtime, North Leeds is a good spot for snow in winters like this one!
  11. I'll be sure to bear that in mind, thanks for the warning! I stand by my assertion that some of the depths claimed by your south-eastern brethren were comically off the mark though! Still, your lot did better than us yesterday so I can't mock too much! Enjoy it ?
  12. I notice the Met Office brought out an Amber warning in the Midlands at 16:45! What's the point, all the areas in the warning had already had 6 inches of snow by the time it came out. Why are the Met Office so useless at snow warnings?
  13. Yeah it's been better in West and North Yorkshire this year so far for sure. I actually missed out on the Harrogate event by 5 miles but was in a sweet spot the following week and have seen falling snow a good few times. Fingers crossed for a proper beast so we can all get in on the act together!
  14. So is the southeast thread on here, I wonder if its because they never get snow, so don't know what 4 inches of it is supposed to look like! Having said that, looks like some spots in the Midlands did very well with similar amounts to what we had in the 2 events up here earlier in the month.
  15. They have different units of measurement down there, was the same last week with the "Amber" warning. Either that or they don't cut their grass because "3 inches" isn't quite enough to fully cover it . If it settles at all, it starts at 4cm and builds from there I think.
  16. It's already been wrong for an hour and a half! Rubbish but we've done alright here this winter so far and prospect's of more to come so not too concerned by missing out today.
  17. Urgh that's two bands that have pepped up and then fizzled away southwards just as they approached me! Sounds like they weren't anything special anyway. Anyone know whether Tuesday/Wednesday is going to give us anything?
  18. Seems to have burst into life over Leeds again, possibly in the gap that missed the first little band? Looking dark to my west...
  19. Got a bit of dandruff in Garforth, suprised you didn't have a few flakes from that as you're in a heavier bit of the band according to that?!
  20. Well we got 10 minutes of very light dandruff out of it. Looks like the energy might be disappearing from the band west of Bradford so that might be it for this weekend! Looks I teresting for South Yorkshire, especially south of Sheffield.
