  1. There seems to be a band developing from nowhere North South through Leeds, but from here it looks pretty high based? Edit: that's interesting!
  2. Hello, Yorkshire here... Please can we have some videos of these monster showers you're getting as it's looking like a sunny weekend over here ! Enjoy whatever you get, it's your turn this week! ? ❄
  3. Not looking like there's much chance of anything here this weekend, everything to the southwest/south. Tuesday still could deliver though and to be fair it's been a decent few weeks for snow IMBY since Christmas so I suppose it's only fair for others to share the fun! Look forward to hearing the comedy accumulation estimates from the SE thread again!
  4. Band of showers showing on radar as sleet and snow are actually rain and sleet, at least below 200m asl. Through Leeds now and heading away to the northeast anyway.
  5. Snow here, a slight dusting already on grass and conservatory roof... Need to sleep for early start but do t like missing the snow!
  6. Even the more southerly band is now heading up towards Cumbria and Middlesborough, the first one is in Glasgow now! It's just been a showery day here really and the same at work in Cleckheaton. However the ground is very wet so maybe it won't take too much rain to cause problems. I am suprised were under an Amber warning here though.
  7. Amber rain warning for all of West and some of south Yorkshire for rain Tuesday and Wednesday. 40-70mm widely, over 100mm on hills. Sounds like floods could be the headline this week.
  8. Head to the SE thread for some of the most incredibly optimistic snow depth measurement estimates you have ever seen! Someone insisting they have an inch and a half, it's maybe a cm at best going by their pictures. Someone else says 3 inches and it's clearly less than an inch! Have to echo the mockery of the Met office's warnings for the 2 events... An Amber for a dusting on a Saturday morning down there and a yellow that only expanded to cover the whole of West Yorkshire halfway through the 4 inch Friday rush hour event up here!
  9. I honestly don't think the charts are as bad as the general mood recently in here has implied. Past experience suggests that smaller daughter lows on the southern side of the main longwave trough don't get picked up until the short to medium-range. In this scenario, such shortwave could bring suprise snowfalls to anyone at fairly short notice. Admittedly, deep cold from the East doesn't look likely imminently, but who knows what will happen beyond ten days...
  10. Tell you what, it feels a hell of a lot colder when that freezing fog moves in! Looks Baltic out there now
  11. A stunningly beautiful scene right across West Yorkshire as I drove home this lunchtime with the sun out and everything coated in snow and ice like something from the Alps! Shame I couldnt get any pics. We did really well from yesterday's front, shame it's going to melt tomorrow. Am hoping for something not from the west next week as you don't get scenes like today with the higher dew points that usually brings. Easterlies or disrupting fronts like yesterday please! Here's some pics of the garden looking great and one of my rabbits enjoying it!
  12. It's actually gotten heavier here again. Nothing like this morning but it's accumulating again. This is from the heavier stuff east of Leeds on radar. 20210114_165627.mp4
  13. Hats off to Kasim and Scott, you nailed this one, possibly even UNDER-estimated it if anything!! Met Office warning not for the first time in recent years, was poor. We've got 8-10cm depending on the surface and that's below 100m asl. Here's the views out the front/back of the house. Winter wonderland indeed!
  14. Amazing scenes back home in Garforth now.... Easy 8cm, maybe 10cm. Still snowing lightly and roads are chaos, especially M1! Pics are all Garforth, 85m asl! Rabbits' first snow day too! 20210114_150342.mp4
  15. Incredible scenes in lowland Cleckheaton. 3cm and increasing quickly now the slush layer has succumbed. Snow intensifying again with bigger flakes than for the last 2 hours!
  16. Left the ice pellets behind in Garforth to head to work at Cleckheaton. Rain all the way, including bear Birstall IKEA at approx. 200m asl so currently it's longitude rather than altitude that's the defining factor! 1°c here currently (Cleckheaton).
  17. Feeding the rabbits in my conservatory before heading out to work and I can reveal in the last 5 minutes, we have ice pellets mixed in with the rain. I could hear them on the roof so went out to confirm and it's definitely started changing over. This is at 87m asl east of Leeds (Garforth)
  18. Same! The fact that there aren't a string of posts saying how terrible it's looking is an upgrade on what I've woken up to every other day this week!
  19. Moderate rain here, the automated met office forecast has it changing to sleet at 5am and snow shortly after. We've had nearly 15mm of rain so far, would have been ace if it had been all snow! Speaking of which, has anyone got any white stuff yet?
