  1. I can see that low on Tuesday ending up further south and going into France and i wouldn't be suprised if it did but we'll have to wait and see, i think either way another snow event looms for southern and parts of SW England and maybe Central and eastern parts if it gets that far. But also sorry i have to ask this in this thread but don't know where else to ask. But in regards to Dry snow, i read somewhere years back that the air temperature has to be 0c for this to happen but i wanted to know what temp does the dew point have to be for this to happen? Many Thanks.
  2. looks like we may get some flurries in the next hour or so if the don't dramatically shift or fizzle out
  3. BBC Spotlight went for persistant light snow for the whole region on Sunday/Monday and heavy snow Tuesday night. ITV have already had egg on their face this week as they forecast rain on Tuesday with it possibly turning to sleet on the higher ground and low and behold the rain turned to sleet and snow even to lower levels and they looked abit flusterd the following evening during the forecast, so i'd take their forecasts with a pinch of salt lol.
  4. Day 3 of lying snow here, although theres isn't any down in town hardly where people have been walking about on it alot and where theres been grit. But still most areas have either an inch to half cover which is truly remarkable for here. In regards to Sunday i can't help but have a hunch that the channel may provide some big instability and provide some areas with heavier spells of snow, im assuming this is why west devon and cornwall have been mentioned to have heavy snow late on sunday but i think anywhere on the receiving end of the wind off the channel or even just the coastlines could get localised heavy snow. I mean you just have to look at the precipitation thats hits the channel this week, it intensifys rapidly and the channel islands and cornwall have taken a pounding from this. I could be reading into it too much and just hopecasting but i still thinks its a possibilty. Anyhows back to today again and we've had the coldest day so far with it only reaching 0.2c today (which i'd class an ice day) but only reaced down to -2.5c this morning, currently -1.6c.
  5. Well today has marked the 3rd day of 50% snow cover although it has melted quite abit where the paths have been grited or where people have walked on the path frequently in fact theres non at all in some areas, but away from there its still a good covering. Does that still qualify do you think? Hopefully we'll get some tops ups on Sunday
  6. Well had a second day of snow cover here although in other parts of Paignton its melted away where grit and where people have used the pathways frequently Newton Abbot was very similar although has stuck around alittle better than here on the main routes. Only -1.6c here, and it almost got down to -4c last night. Should hopefully reach -4c again tonight maybe even try for the record -5.4c i have for Paignton which suprisingly was set in Dec '05. Still remaining optimistic about some possible flurries tommorow and maybe Sat.
  7. From Hampshire originally lol, but family are mostly from up North. Yeah we've never had it stick properly for this long i must admit.
  8. Might as well add some photos while im here...I must admit the snow doesn't look that deep on these but it was a good inch/two
  9. Well im very impressed at the fact the snow has stayed on the ground all day and hardly melted much despite the sunshine this afternoon, in fact it thawed more while it was snowing. But this snow really takes me back to when i lived in Blackpool as its that proper powdery type snow and its just everywhere and the road have gone to black ice and its never stuck this properly or thick down here since we moved, although it snowed an stuck last Feb it melted very quickly during the day and was quite slushy to begin with in places. I think and hope this will mostly still be here come Sunday when we may hopefully get a top up
  10. I'm backing the ECM on this one, as its done very well so far during this cold spell and not only that it points towards the teleconnections that GP pointed out for Mid-Jan, with the block moving back over Greenland and lows sliding underneath (and GP has been almost spot on so far) Also it think its fair to say we've been locked into a strong cold blocking pattern which is going to take some bashing before it will move away. Personally i went for it turning milder in my Jan forecast the end of next week but the more i think about the more i think we could squeeze another week before milder air tries to push back in and even then i think its very likely that the cold air will return with avengence. But in the short term Sunday looks like another snow fest for some areas, looking at the fax chart it has an occluded front straddling across the channel/southern England through the day, could be very intresting times indeed
  11. Blowing an asbolute hoolie here now and im sure its snowing lightly again and we've now had a new high temp of 0.9c but the dew point has gone down to -1c. Hope this wind stops so the temps can drop
  12. Been out with the bro in the snow, and we now have about an inch to two iches of the stuff and its drifted to about 3 inches in some spots but its very lovely proper powdery type snow so thin it could be here a few days. Been very cold almost an ice day, max of 0.8c currently 0.4c but the wind has whipped right up if it drops i think we'll get a very cold night indeed.
  13. Only the meto radar http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/sw/sw_latest_radar.html http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/index.html I would have put the snapshots up but it goes abit funny, but heres the links anyhows if they are helpfull. Well i'd happily take more heavy snow at the weekend still chucking it down with light snow was almost a full on blizzard before however its not settling very well . EDIT: A thaw is setting in now .
  14. Yes i've heard alot of people say about snow at the weekend, but iv'e been looking at the charts and i can't see where its going to come from? unless a surface low is going to develop in the easterly?
  15. Well a pleasant suprise, suddenly started snowing quite heavily out of nowhere its gone much lighter now but still a fair bit coming down almost blizzard like conditions at times when the wind picks up. Hopefully more heavier stuff to come looking at the radar. P.S. Seen the sight of the day, a couple walking up the street with ski sticks and a husky lol.
  16. Just took the dogs out, and we have a good inch here and everythings white near enough even the trees. Been snowing very lightly on and off the past hour im hoping the temp will stay at freezing till some more possible snow arrives.
  17. Got a good inch here now and its looks like a winter woderland everythings covered in it. Stopped snowing here now..edit its just started again but very lightly, hopefully will have so more in the next hour or so.
  18. Heavy light snow again here, topping up the dusting from earlier on last night after which the skies cleared. Hopefully that big blob will come this way, but it looks as though it may just miss us to the west. I think Dartmoor Matt could get a pasting if it holds up
  19. Eased off here now but it looks fab outside everything covered in a good dusting up to a cm deep. Looks as though we'll be waiting for the stuff over Wales to travel south, although its still cloudy so we may geta few snow flurries/showers before it arrives (if it arrrives?)
  20. I think we have our first cm here now, theres deffo a cm on the cars abit difficult to tell about the ground but im assuiming so. Its easing off here now
  21. Its still snowing lightly but theres loads of it coming down and the flakes have got slightly bigger but its magical to watch coming down under the streetlamp. lol. Temp: -0.2c .DP -1c Hopefully this will keep up and get heavier.
  22. Yes last Feb was remarkable i don't think i've seen it snow so much in that timescale, although we only had an inch to 2 inches settle we probs had around 6-8 inches of the stuff fall as it was melting as quick as it was settling at times. Plus we got a full blown thundersnow event which must be very rare for these parts. EDIT: Its getting heavier
  23. Here's hoping too lol. Its funny it clouded over before but it wasn't doing out then so was shocked when i just lookd out and it was snowing and everything has a nice dusting. I can't help but get the feeling something is developing on top of us..just a hunch and partly as i don't think ive been so excited to see light snow lol.
  24. Snowing lightly here now and its settling pretty well everything has a good dusting on it now. Looking at the radar it seems quite abit of precipitation is developing across Devon all of a sudden.
  25. Those showers across west devon and cornwall look nice but the showers nearest me they seem to be drifting north east on the latest met office radar loop, dunno if im looking at it wrong. EDIT: Saw the weather forecastor for our local new on itv before and he had massive egg on his face after saying it would be nothing more than rain to lower levels today and only sleet on the higher ground which of course didnt quite go to plan
