    It's so close I can smell it lol. My sister is due to land at 16:10 at Newcastle airport, look like its going to be bumpy landing.

    I was just reminiscing and I remember the last proper summer storm in Newcastle was the early hours of 1 August 2008. Is there anywhere I can get a radar image of this event?

    This is quite spectacular , the trees are cracking in the wind with the ice that is covering them. Never witnessed freezing rain like it.

    This line of weak showers is slowly heading West and could produce some very light snow showers for coastal areas.

    Few more days and the ppn we're seeing won't even be marginal for snow , something to be excited about

    That's the thing, North sea convectivity is so unpredictable. It can majorly dissapoint or majorly suprise.

    I personally think we're in for a major event with some persitent lake (or sea) effect snow . A definite possibilty of some thundersnow. Oviously depending on wind direction but over the cold period we will be unlucky for winds not to veer in the right direction for us. Anyone know the sea temperature now compared to previous in similar set-ups in notable events?

    I remember a low pressure system very similar to this during the summer. There was a huge band of rain which was about 30 miles west of Newcastle and stayed there for most of the days, not moving an inch.

    Thunderstorm moving through here. Not seen any flashes yet but 6 rumbles of thunder and torrential rain.

    Just heard a rumble of thunder to the North of me. Looks like some storm activity is coming this way Best storm so far this year and it's still not too good. Couple of rumbles a minute , getting louder and closer now. Saw a few lightning strikes in the distance.
