  1. Nobody should be disappointed to see those showers dying out as they move inland. The BBC, Met Office and past experience all tell us that this was going to happen! It was NEVER going to be a Midlands event, anything that we do get should be seen as a bonus.
  2. Why have the members locations randomly disappeared again?
  3. Nope, no evidence of it whatsoever. Only found out just that we actually had something. Working again now, probably won't need it though. Showers get into Derbyshire and just die.
  4. Apparently we had a snow flurry this afternoon. But I was in a classroom with the blinds down so I didn't actually see it! My radar has got stuck on 3.30pm, which is annoying.
  5. Edit: Ignore, radar is fine now http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif
  6. Yes, already nearly -1c here, even if we don't get any snow tonight there should still be some pretty low temperatures.
  7. We will be very lucky to get any decent showers tonight. We could definitely get some light snow showers drifting through, perhaps even the odd heavy one for a lucky few. But being night there is no sunlight to fuel the showers, so as soon as they move off the North Sea they will begin to die out. I doubt very much if anyone wakes up to a meaningful covering in the western half of the region (ie. Birmingham westwards).
  8. Apparently had a brief snow flurry this afternoon. But being stuck in a maths class with the blinds down I couldn't see it. Hoping to get some snow over the weekend and into Monday. Anybody hoping for snow showers tonight really are clutching at straws unless they live in the East Midlands! Bitterly cold today.
  9. Couple of beefy showers heading SW through Derbyshire now, will definitely be of snow. Could be a chance here.
  10. Judging by the reactions of some at more realistic model runs - quite a few!
  11. Yep. Our best hope is a rogue trough that you sometimes find in northerlies or the inevitable attempt from the Atlantic to battle the cold. 2nd in the league. I shall say no more.
  12. I don't see what the problem is. The Midlands has never done well off direct Northerlies and we need a very potent easterly to bring anything decent. These ones are no different.
  13. Don't see why we have all this negativity. We still have a great chance of a good snow event on Saturday night. Chill out folks.
  14. Well I have looked at the Met Office site, and found something odd. The maps show wall to wall sunshine. However, look at the 3-5 day outlook and it paints a different picture... Why can't the Met Office be consistent with their forecasts? They were updated within 20 minutes of each other!
  15. Fully agreed mate. She is crap, Simon is way better. She only went out to 3pm tomorrow on today's forecast - that is terrible, what about those who might want to know if it could snow during rush hour tomorrow? She is one of these weather presenters that know very little about the weather. Bring back Simon!
  16. Shefali Oza on Midlands Today mentioned the risk of snow for Sunday. Can't believe the mass hysteria on here after one run. Edit: Wahey, post number 3000
  17. NO! Because then it provides more ammunition for the modern winter fanatics...
  18. Thanks coldfingers! Aha yes, my main aim is to understand some of the complicated posts in the model thread, some day!
  19. Sorry but can you post the chart for this? All I can see for Monday is showers for exposed coasts?
  20. Nothing but cold rain today! Very depressing day.
  21. I have never known a cold spell where the models have been so conflicting with the Met Office forecasts before. Really is bizarre. 3c here, just had some drizzle, other than that another grey day so far.
  22. Hi TEITS, there is a trick. When you obtain the link for the image of the ensembles (right click, properties etc.) you get something like this at the end: ens.20091216/00/t850Aberdeenshire.png If you change the red bit, that changes the date of the run. You change the blue bit you change which run it was. Here are the runs from yesterday for Cambridgeshire: http://charts.netweather.tv/ensimages/ens.20091215/00/t850Cambridgeshire.png http://charts.netweather.tv/ensimages/ens.20091215/06/t850Cambridgeshire.png http://charts.netweather.tv/ensimages/ens.20091215/12/t850Cambridgeshire.png http://charts.netweather.tv/ensimages/ens.20091215/18/t850Cambridgeshire.png Hope that helps =]
  23. Yeah I remember that one. But we didn't get the proper snow until the evening. I want to wake up to a white blanket!
  24. After the insane pub run, I think I need to put up the warning sign... Altogether folks!..."I'm dreaming, of a White Christmas, just like the ones I never saw..."
  25. Still, nice to look at! And it makes a nice change to see the mild rubbish being put further back into FI rather than the other way round. This cold isn't going anywhere without a fight.
