  1. My sum up: 01/02: Snowed all afternoon, got a good dusting. 02/02: Snowed heavily overnight and continued to do so in the morning. My trip to Somerset went ahead, snowed most of the journey towards Bristol and then it cleared up. A dusting on Exmoor where I was staying. 03/02: Woke up to find a slight dusting, melted quickly though. 04/02: No snow. 05/02: A dusting overnight, started to snow heavily in the evening. 06/02: Deep snow, 8 inches + in places. Nearly had to stay another night. Trees brought down, roads blocked and power cut off. 07/02: Back in Cannock. Snow on the ground, nothing falling. 08/02: Had some snow during the day, but took ages to settle. 09/02: Overhyped snow event didn't materialise, a few hours of wet snow that didn't settle. 10/02: Nothing. 11/02: Surprise snowfall, unfortunately missed most of the heavier stuff. 12/02: A few flakes fell After witnessing one of the best snowfalls in the South West for many years (according to locals), I say this has been a very good cold spell
  2. Great film Stu! One of my big aims in life is to go storm chasing, and this film just strengthened that aim. Loved the part when you were going through the storm in Kansas (I think?) and you couldn't see a thing, the adrenaline rush must have been immense. Stay in touch with the forum!
  3. Watching this now, these guys are insane! Looks exciting though.
  4. Maybe in Hull, but nationwide - certainly not.
  5. Yeah Birmingham will get some brief heavy snow Unfortunately I was right on the edge of those heavy ones, don't be surprised if you get a (probably temporary) covering. My temperature dropped from 4c to less than 2c in literally a few minutes.
  6. Cold spell? Over? Let me just look out my window...nope! It's snowing here! The cold spell lives on
  7. Sleet here, would say 10% snow 90% rain but there are definitely wet flakes coming down.
  8. Just had an incredible temperature drop, 1.3c in a couple of minutes and it is still falling. In the middle of a shower - snow possible? Has fallen from 4c to 2c in literally a few minutes. Still raining lightly and a lot of showers around.
  9. What is causing it? I never remember them being this slow before.
  10. With all the long range forecasts dotted about there was bound to be one or two right!
  11. To be honest, even if global warming does exist, we are due a severe winter at some point. This winter has been COLD, nothing severe though. We WILL get a very cold winter at some point in the future, global warming or not - I am sure nobody in the right mind denies that. My expectations for next winter? I haven't got a clue.
  12. Give me a generally cool summer with the occasional hot blast to bring some nice storms. Hate heat. But way too far out to make any predictions!
  13. So when is this winter storm arriving? Very poor "event", probably the biggest let down of the winter. It snowed a bit, had a sugar dusting and then it just left. Snow is now melting (or what was left of it). The BBC should really start being careful about what they say - 2 to 8 inches? Ha!
  14. No I am still lurking! Can't resist the temptation  Don't think it is settling that great yet, but I can definitely make out a small snow drift in the back garden! Now I am definitely off, as I don't think I will be having a snow day tomorrow!
  15. WHY WON'T IT SETTLE PROPERLY I am going to bed and seeing what it is like in the morning, but to be honest, I am very doubtful of a covering. Goodnight and good luck folks.
  16. Yup, got some big flakes coming down here now. Not settling that great yet though.
  17. Hang on, if I remember rightly you were dismissing this event last night
  18. It has finally hit! Much bigger flakes now, hopefully it will last for a while.
  19. What is the betting that it will stall and head south now? Wouldn't be surprised...
  20. Yorkshire?! You are having a giraffe surely? The PPN has now stalled over Birmingham and will start to pull southeastwards, I have accepted that I am not going to get much out of it, I would be amazed if Yorkshire got a warning. Besides, don't you have your own thread
