  1. This is one of the most October-ish weeks of July I can remember. At least next week is looking more pleasant.
  2. Had to wear a proper coat on my lunchbreak today. Even as someone who hates hot weather, this is too chilly for me.
  3. Would prefer something warmer and drier, but this beats the awful heat of last week so won't complain too much.
  4. This is the "storms and convective discussion" thread. A cumulus field very much fits this definition.
  5. Perhaps it's because I'm sadly at home in my furnace of a flat as opposed to being in an office where the A/C is set at 20C!
  6. Way too hot for me out there. Couldn't scamper back to the air conditioned office fast enough after fetching some lunch!
  7. Regarding Heathrow...I think the biggest issue is that the weather station is sandwiched on a small area of grass between the north runway (one of the busiest runways in the world) and the northern perimeter roads and car parks. So it's between two large slabs of black tarmac. In addition, being in the northern side of the airport means that in any hot southerly, it's just advecting all of the heat from the airport towards the weather station. Anyone who has been to Heathrow will know that it's basically the size of a town in itself. I think if you moved it to a patch of grass in the southwest corner of the airport you'd see some decrease in the summer maxima.
  8. Had a lovely breeze last night which managed to get rid of all the accumulated warmth of the day, and made sleeping pleasant. But it's hot today, jeez.
  9. Yeah I've often wondered what impact the constant jet engines had on the temperature there. But even with far less traffic, it's still the hottest!
  10. That was perfect warmth, it really was. You could enjoy that during the day and evening without it being unpleasant, and then sleep easily at night. This current heat snap falls into the excessive heat category for me. It's draining.
  11. The air conditioning at work today is absolute heaven!
  12. First uncomfortable heat of the summer for me, yesterday was borderline but it wasn't too hot to sleep. Thankfully only lasting a couple of days!
  13. Wow. Demonstrates just how poor the season has been.
  14. 4th thunder day of the year here in Aylesbury. One of the best years I can remember for number of thunder days so far.
  15. Seriously, any further rubbish and you can sit out for a day or two. Stop ruining the thread for others.
  16. If we can all act like adults, that would be great. Cheers.
  17. So the net result was a Sheriffnado and a couple of radar indicated reports. I was due to be flying out today, bullet dodged with this season
  18. That's an amazing stat. What a year to miss.
  19. Now this is exactly the kind of weather I'd love through summer. I hate hot weather, but mid 20s by day is perfect, you really don't need any warmer than that. Nights are cool enough to be pleasant too. Lovely.
  20. lol chasing in the Deep South would be a nightmare! Storm modes and terrain in the Deep South in March/April are awful.
  21. If my chase trip was still on, I'd have been in despair at what the medium range prospects are looking like. Would have been a poor season all round.
