  1. Lol, I had to laugth at that one! Remind us, when did Scotland last experience a hurricane?
  2. Yep and perhaps abit of a gusty weekend!
  3. I don't agree with all these poor votes, I'd say it's been reasonable from my experience of it. It hasn't been the total deluge of last year, but than we've hardly broken temperature records either! It's just been a very typical British summer, in other words average. Don't forget we had a hot period in May and a very nice sustained period of hot weather in the last 2 weeks of July, so that's alot better than some of the summer's with had in the past!
  4. Dosn't look like a repeat of Katrina is likely if this has been downgraded to Category 2. But some significant structual damage from the wind will occur nonetheless! I think that 2nd storm should be of more concern because that is a freshly developed hurricane and I think if it takes a simular course to Gustov this one will intensify more and more as it gets closer to making landfall!
  5. Thought I heard some distant rumbles of thunder this morning but nothing distinctive! Now it is very sticky and from sunshine a couple of hours back the sky is now very gloomy and has a milky look to it, a sure sign of a brewing storm!
  6. Had abit of drizzle but no storms yet, although the air is very humid and the sky has that milky look to it which would suggest to me that alot of moisture is building up in the atmosphere and it could get angry latter on, perhaps a thunderstorm this evening!
  7. Looks like the Midlands north will feel the fall effects of this one, however we can expect gale-force gusts pretty much everywhere.
  8. Wind Speed: 18mph Wind Gust: 34mph Weather Condition: Bright & Breezy Wind has abated alot here over the last hour or so, the rain has cleared and now sun is shining, feels quite chilly. 2nd wave of strong winds due here mid-afternoon into the evening.
  9. Earlier on 29mph mean speed, gusting 62mph for a time. Currently wind has abated to 21mph, gusting 39mph but suspect the second wave could bring something stronger perhaps 70mph.
  10. This storm could be horendous, the papers are saying it could be the worst since 1987! But I tend to ignore what the papers say because they always say this everytime there's more than an average gale and lets face it 1987 is a once in 200 year event. Still I predict it could well top the January storms of last year. B)
  11. If you live in the Southern half of the country your main concern is with the pottential for 70mph plus winds tommorrow, any snowfall is most likely going to be on Sunday and this is a little to far off to make predictions about disruption as it's difficult to forecast the amount of snow expected until about 24 hours before the event!
  12. According to the BBC Weather Centre the worst of the rain and wind tommorrow is going to be over Southern England and Wales not Scotland!
  13. Yeehaa, sounds like it's gonna be a rougth ride tommorrow!!
  14. 90mph expected in Cornwall, Devon and South Wales, more like 50-60mph elsewhere! It's gonna be pretty attrocious for all of us.
  15. Cant wait to see if they get Sundays Storm prediction correct, because they are double damned if they dont!
  16. Looks like Southern Ireland, Wales and Southwest England are going to take the brunt with 90mph gusts possible! Elsewhere gusts of 50-60mph are still likely.
  17. Could we finally get the storm that us storm lovers have been waiting for? Is this gonna be anything like the storms Piers Corbyn suggested might happen?
  18. Drizzle and moderate breeze, so much for 60mph gales. BBC London forecast messed it up again! They have predicted high winds across the southeast about 3 or 4 times this year and every time they have failed to arrive, will they ever get it right!?
  19. There really is total calmness out there now, it's almost spooky. This is an alarming sign of what is approaching, the last time I remember a calm before the storm like this one was the October 2002 storm, and whoever remembers that one will remember that was a howler!
  20. You just know there's gonna be a hell of a storm tommorow boys, but nobody is letting it slip out to the public this late to avoid there being any panic! Even Peter Cockroft said he was worried that the winds will be alot worse than the Met Office where predicting as a vigerous Atlantic storm rolls in. Early or should I say late predictions from him where gusts of upto 60mph, but I predict considering the wind arrows where saying 30 to 40mph, and 45mph on the coast that 70-90mph are possible!
  21. It was very windy this morning, gusting around 35 to 40mph I'd say and the rain was lashing down! Not to bad now, still abit breezy but the sky is clear and it's a little chilly. But I suspect it's the calm before the storm, because according to the local weather forecast, there's the possibility of winds gusting in excess of 60mph at some point tommorow so this next atlantic system is one to keep in eye on for sure!
  22. Gonna be stormy in the next few days, particularly in Scotland tonight 75mph winds forecast, and in the South tommorow and Saturday, with 60mph+ predicted!
  23. Looks like we've got some very wet & windy weather on the way over the next couple of weeks according to The Met Office, this could mean 1 or 2 stormy weather systems moving in. According to The BBC Weather site, mean wind speeds of 40mph are expected in the South-East on Thursday, correct me if I'm wrong but this could mean gusts of 60 maybe even 80mph could it not?
  24. We've just had a deluge, monzoon like downpour!
  25. Well we're still trying to exceed 40mph here in leafy Upminster, so the chances of hitting 60mph arn't looking good however the rain is horrendous, it's lashing down out there!
