  1. Yep flakes are finally start to get bigger here... Come on
  2. btch ass heavy stuff ever so close to our east. Talk about scraping the barrel lol. Looks like the Pennines are blocking it out :S Infact I'm quite annoyed to see I've ended up in the middle two heavy heavy blobs to the West and to the East! I'd have to say, that's an Orographic shadow.
  3. Indeed, luckily for me I have nothing to do, not in work until tomorrow night. @ Fallon, yeah mate, not sure I'm bothered if it gets heavier. It's the best its been so far, so hopefully it will carry on in to tomorrow, it's building up nicely as it is. Woot.
  4. The roads must be pretty bad now between Sholver, Delph and Saddleworth and the snow is still pretty damn intense
  5. The heaviest line of PPN is still EAST to WEST Sheffield to Liverpool. Once that moves further north I think it will pick up somewhat for us North of Manchester. Overall the precip has spread towards Preston. Gotta laugh at the ITV Forecasts just now with no icons over the NW region at all. At least another inch accumilated here since this started
  6. It's turning back to flipping dust here again. Pennine crumbs!
  7. The good Doh a dumb swear filter got the better of me man ^^
  8. Starting to get more intense here now. Proper snow
  9. Yeah the front generally moves north but the ppn with the easterly drag defo building NWward, Green area of ppn has moved even further towards us lol.
  10. Same as guys, light snow but much better than the dust we've been getting all week
  11. Oldham Priorities routes are: A62/Huddersfield Road (trans-Pennine route) - keep open A672/Ripponden Road - treated and kept open (unless use of resources on this road prevents keeping the A62 open) A635/Holmfirth Road and the A640/Huddersfield Road - closed to trans-Pennine traffic during adverse conditions Interesting that Oldham Council only have 3 priority roads to grit and that Hudderfield is the main road... Strange considering A672 Ripponden Road directly feeds onto the motorway. So when it snows badly, they basically give up on Ripponden Rd to concentrate on Hudderfield Rd. No wonder we always get cut off up here PPN starting to build West/ Northwestward, South of Sheffield now. That's where I need to be watching Expecting the PPN to the South of Manchester to move north is wrong imo.
  12. Tell you what guys. Having just been out and bout the area, If the heavy stuff hits here it could be bad. I miss-judged the depths. It's around 4inches or more quite widely with plenty of deeper areas. Despite only having dusting's overnight and today, the roads are terrible and that's with numerous gritters out and about. Never mind the nonsense in the south with 1 few centimeters causing chaos warning OTT news coverage, it we get in on the action, a lot of areas round here could be seriously cut off. We got in on the 2009 event here.. was pretty damn harsh. Took us an hour to get home that morning instead of the usual 6 min drive as half the towns roads were cut off.
  13. Least we know the flow is good enough for ppn to come out of nowhere from the east..... When that front does move up, could be fun afterall.
  14. Well, The Meto image posted earlier with that area of upto 25cm, it was centered on a line from say Leeds down to Sheffield and we are close the edge of the area so, you might not get 25cm but you can't totally rule out 5cm . No matter what we should be under the ppn, even if its the lighter side.
  15. GFS 12z trolling us with a snow breakdown (if it can be called a breakdown at this stage!!) on Saturday. A far cry from the Monsoon earlier runs were predicting. All becuase it pulls a wedge of cold uppers back over this and eastern regions. (PM air also being pulled towards us from the west. Weird run so far and most certainly not a typical mild breakdown. In fact, I'm going to say the GFS looks similar to what we've seen before, LP coming in from the west or north west, hitting the block of cold air and goes spining off NWward towards the southern tip of Greenland. Not looking all that mild at all between now and next Sunday! There is also a chance for a small ridge to build NE of the UK by Monday. If that happens, same would happen again with SW energy tracking SE. Quite a few positives to be had from the 12z GFS ^^
  16. If only that 25cm wedge was futher west! It's going to be VERY close whether we get 2cm or more like 20cm......
  17. All I can think of is, atm a large part of the this region (including myself) are not under 0c isotherms so the freezing level is above 0 and up to 100m + for most, with warmish surface temps and low rate of ppn it's melting on its way down ? Everything else looks fine for snow. 850 Uppers and what not widely -6c -7c. The warmest uppers are confined to the SE atm.
  18. There was a secondary band due after this had past but it was touch wood weather it went NE over us or zipped Eastward over the Midlands. The hope was for the first to stall and the second to catch up. Not sure what will happen though
  19. Just watched the premium radar back and wow, that's some impressive West/Northwestward drag on that band of ppn. Here's to hoping a lot more ppn gets pulled in off the northsea before it heads north. Last night we got 1-2cm from the continuous snow dust that was falling and as for right now, just a few icy particles blowing about.
