  1. I`ll go for a visual forecast. Heavy rain/hail, overcast strong, gusty wind around 30mph, gusts to around 50mph cold Visibility-50ft (yes the rain and hail is that heavy as well as being near horizontal)
  2. i can put mine up on the roof as i`m at a gable end and there is nothing after that, just hills and fields.
  3. Its was the price that caught my eye, good value. I`d say it could go up to 100MPH at most. There was one i saw somewhere made from a bike speedometer!
  4. If you get that one from mapling, let me know what its like, i was thinking of getting it too, but i could find what the windspeed went up too.
  5. yes i think we should, its probably the most pointless thing ever. At one point they wanted straight bananas, they also wanted to ban the use of lead in pipe organs, something thats needed in the metals used in the pipes. What else will they think of, breathing tax? Mercury has been used safely for years, why ban it now.
  6. http://www.inspeed.com/wind_speed_directio...ss%20Chrome.asp Found this one, its about £400 but its good.
  7. Found this on amazon, but its from the U.S. http://www.amazon.com/Oregon-Scientific-WG...r/dp/B00006J044
  8. I think they should do it in areas such as the Highlands and the souther uplands and other such areas in the U.K.
  9. August 2005 was probably the best. THe whole day there was thunder constantly rumbling away in the distance. Just after 5 O`clock the sky was near completely black and was really churning overhead. The lightning was amizing crawler lighting and forked ligthing was striking everywhere. THere was a flash ever second or so for about 3 hours and the rain was torrential and the thunder was just amazing, it shook everything and you could hear it echoing right up the valley. What a day that was, i have never experiencec anything like that again. Words cant describe it and i was daft enough to stand at the top of a hill to watch it.
  10. thats the coldest thats officially been recorded, there are many places that have probably seen colder, especially in the Highland valleys.
  11. I live in Dalrymple, just ouside Ayr. It was -30 here years ago, i was about 5. Our pipes froze as well as the mains water, no electicity, no heating. it was a nightmare, the car wouldnt start and it was a night mare. The river was frozen over as well, something thats never happened since.
  12. I remember when i was a kid we used to get loads of snow nearly every year and it was at least 1ft deep, now were lucky if we get any. Last year my area only had 3 nights with frost and no snow at all. Winters are becoming very dull and boring indeed. I think it would be nice this year to have a very busy winter with loads of snow that lasts for at least a week. Doubt it`ll happen though.
  13. I`ll go for -20 up here in Scotland. I have seen -30 here where i live and i never want it to be at that again, nothing worked.
  14. Clouding over here, frost is melting slightly, hopefully we`ll get some snow before the nights done as its to turn to rain.
  15. Where i live had no snow at all last year, and only three days with frost.
  16. the clearest one i remember is the 1998 boxing day storm that produced winds of over 105mph in my area. It was breezy to say the least. It also flipped planes at prestiwck airport. I remember my bedroom window coming in and the floorboards lifting up by at least 1ft, the ceiling was a mess as it was moving as well. The noise was deafening, between the wind picking the tiles from the roof, the chimney coming down, the loft door making a racket, the house shaking and the doors rattling, thats what makes it so memorable. Where my grandparent live, they must have had winds of about 120MPH, there was buildings flattend, garages carried down the street, chimney stack on a whole street were moved into kitchens and gardens, roofs cmpletely blow apart, going up there was like a war zone. They were without power for 6 weeks.
