  1. a few more flakes falling now and a bit of a breeze here too, feels bitter out there,
  2. a few very small flakes falling now here, seems to be more and more precipitation showing on radar, is something developing?, more of a se drift now when you rewind precip? interesting.
  3. just seen 8.58pm bbc national weather forecast on sky and the graphics was for all snow down the eastern side of our area well into the north sea on saturday which sort of discounts rooneys earlier local beeb forecast of rain and sleet for weekend
  4. Hi all, Just had a peak on the radar and there appears to be a few showers starting to drift towards tyne and wear, anyway being watching the main model discussion and the impression is that there are interesting times ahead for cold lovers. my past experience of frontal snow(over 40 years) has nearly always been disappointing, we always do better from convective type snow activity, so I,m hoping we keep on the cold side of the fronts over the weekend and hope for convection from our friend the North Sea cheers Gary (by the way it took me about 10 minutes to type this i,m that crap at this sort of thing)
  5. light hail now falling, might be interesting by morning if precip to north keeps dropping south?
  6. Hi snow mad have also been watching this develop on the radar to the north, interesting but seems to be drifting westwards
  7. snow easing off now, as per radar, left a bit of a dusting will probably freeze now, maybe a little taster of things to come tomorrow if metoffice warnings are still valid.
  8. can confirm very light snow in westmoor a few minutes ago, didn't last long but least it was the white stuff
  9. Hi all my first post in model output thread. I have been watching this forum for a good few years now and I am sensing the excitment of the much anticipated easterly coming, I just personally feel from this winter so far (IMBY) that this winter is going to be something to remember, to actually see these model runs so far today and this evening has been astonishing, especially after this afternoons snow storm in the Newcastle area which brought the city to a standstill(sorry again imby) have been attached to PC all evening watching and learning please keep up the good work. thx Gary
  10. Hi again just started snowing again in Westmoor, turned to hailstone as I write, this looks like a smallish shower following the earlier more prolonged snow/hail , just opened the back door to have a look and it feels really cold still snowing lightly
  11. stopped now in Westmoor, left a covering, melting a bit on the trees., just starting hailstoning as I write this, expect this covering to freeze as the skys clear. interesting night for October.
  12. Hi still snowing in Westmoor(just north of Newcastle, slightly south from Killingworth) its settled on all surfaces(including leaves on trees) does not appear to be melting, not much though, but a covering with more to come for a while looking at the radar. enjoy while it lasts!
  13. its been snowing quite a while now in westmoor, heavy hail now can hear it wacking against the windows, impressive start to winter considering its only october.
  14. heavy snow, big flakes starting to settle in westmoor!
  15. light snow ifalling in westmoor now. feels freezing outside just put the rubbish out and theres ice on the bin! medium size flakes blowing around in the wind shows up nicely around the lamp posts.
  16. all in all, it has been an unusual day, disappointed with the amount of snow considering the meto warnings, however can't remember ever seeing everything outside coated in ice including small icicles on trees light snow still falling here in Westmoor.just noticed need to change my location
  17. the only melt I have noticed today is on roofs where central heating has been blasting all day, this shows some lofts are poorly insulated (my house included) this is why their are so many icicles around, nothing else around my location has melted. I must agree with some of the earlier posts that when the wind picks up from the sea things become very marginal around the coastal plain, but this spell of cold weather has been very unusual and could spring a real suprise, lets hope the warnings for once in these situations comes to fruition.
  18. bbc news forecast just on showed a lot of snow for us late tomorrow quote 'very heavy snow in northern england' the graphics backed this which interestingly showed the precipitation in the north sea as snow, which is promising for those who live at the coast who were worried about the warming effect of the sea moderate snow now in byker, been out and about today never seen so many large icicles in my life!
  19. quite heavy hail now in byker, it should be interesting tomorrow
