  1. Funny to think that Watling street has been a border line ebtween us for over 1000 years now, first with Danelaw and Mercia now with warks and leics.

You can try and cross into Mercia if you like but we'll just own your danish behinds like we always did

So stay your own side of the watling street HEATHEN! :p

Here's the new regions for the "regional" threads.

    Burn danish slobs!!!! :)

Oooh, Viking banter, my favourite. Given that the 2 housemates I live with both come from towns with "thorpe" in the name (Thorpe St. Andrew, Norfolk; Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire), I'm happy not to be a Viking, and that King Alfred the Great of Wessex told them where to go after they attacked Wareham and Swanage!

Still, I wouldn't want to share a thread with those from Canterbury if I was back home. :)

Still snowing in Nottingham, for the record!

  2. Where's C_S to? Probs on the A46, but still, guess what's back? SNOWING IN NOTTINGHAM! Again. :o

I'm with you on this one, redheads FTW :( Although I do like Brunettes just as much :o

Finally, someone that sees the allure in red headed maids! There's something about them...

Doesn't stop me partaking in ginger banter anyway! :o

  3. Right this one is for you Nottingham people out there, not only have we got a better football team and a better City but now we have better snow :pardon:

This is like one of those moments from a 90's gameshow... "Now lets see what you could have won"

This bit of your post is right!

I've never been to Leicester (to be averted in March, when I should be heading to Leicester Beer Festival), but I'm pretty sure that anywhere is better than Nottingham. It's still not snowing, and the South West are having more. Pah.

South Central? I would say Reading, Oxford, Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke etc...

This, to me is wrong. My belief is this:

    Reading: South East

    Oxford: West Midlands

    Bournemouth: South West

    Southampton: Scumlands South East

    Portsmouth: South East

    Basingstoke: South East

Yet we receive the same news. For example, someone in Dorchester will recieve news from Newbury and Brighton & Hove. WHAT? Someone on the South Central thread was shocked when I said I'd rather have news from Plymouth than Southampton, even though Southampton is nearer. Ho well...

  4. Nahthey are slap bang in the middle of England, they are Midlands not WEST Midlands

Everyone... Take a look at this in the Wales thread LMFAO

Look at the pic halfway down...

    http://forum.netweat...n/page__st__391

This sounds like a similar debate I had on the South Central thread, when I told them that the concept of South Central didn't exist. It says a lot when only people from 2 counties (Hampshire and Berkshire, occasional West Sussex) frequent that thread! It should be removed, with the Hants and Berks peeps told to go South East. Dorset people have been welcomed into the South West thread very happily!

Now, I put this to you - if you believe in a "Central Midlands", what is your opinion on a South Central? I don't like either of these - the Warks/Leics border and the Peak District are a very good divider of East and West Midlands, in the same way that the New Forest keeps the South East and South West distinct.

Come on, let's be having ya! :drinks:

Christ knows what I am...Born & inbred in Devon

Corrected that for you AJ!  :cray: *Runs* :cray:

  5. Pah West Midlands West Shmidlands . Don't get me started else i'll start my "Which classes as Midlands" debate :cray:

I think we should be seperated from you brummie people. Seperate thread for people with good accents like a thread just for Leicester, Rugby, Hinckley, Nuneaton, Market Harborough, Nottingham, Derby and Rutland

Rugby and Nuneaton are in Warwickshire, therefore West Midlands... *sigh* :drinks:

  6. here's NG5 as of 11am today...

    TracyAllenDesolate.jpg

Pretty sure NG7 doesn't look quite that nice, m'dear!

To be fair the east Midlands were never going to get anything substantial, a dusting at best. This was always going to be a west Midlands event rather than east.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting anything at all really, so a nice surprise to see a few white specks sail past my window! :drinks:

  7. Hmm not bad, see when it comes to heavier stuff I like it to be heavier stuff but with singing rather than RROOARRRAAOOYYYRAAOOOOT!! lmao.

What about this song... This is like in my top 5 favourite songs I love it

    Soft rock i'd say.

I've definitely heard that before - what I'd term as Alt. Americana or something.

To get people in the mood for snow with the video, have this missive from my favourite band:

Its stopped s'misting out here. hasnt technically snowed yet in NG5, just a few random grains in the midst of misty rain. I dont get it????????????? wacko.gif

Yeah, fizzled out here as well. Surely that can't be it? Besides, my view of the QMC from here is still a little obscured, there must be summat in the way?

  8. Still snowing lightly here, fresh 1-2cm i'd say.

Got a song to wake you peeps up on this Wednesday morning

I think Butler Son and Crimson will like this one especially

We still have these microscopic flakes here, if this persists then we will have some sort of dusting, I'm sure.

Naaaah, more of an indie kid myself (though do occasionally have some tendancies to heavier things, Lightning Bolt for instance).

Though, as you're a metaller...try this for size (I don't know if it's one of their best, I don't listen to them, but my housemate does - said housemate is also drummer in my band, the other housemate is guitarist, I'm bassist :whistling:) - http://www.youtube.c...h?v=nJzLGU5rjSM

  9. yeah, but I'm north west of you, so with this front moving a about .0000000006 miles per hour, it wont reach me till lunchtime! laugh.gif

    o_rly.jpg

B_S, I meant NE of you btw biggrin.gif anyway, starting to see neutrino sized snow flakes mixed in with the misty rain... its smisting out!!! laugh.gif

Was about to say! Chilwell would be to the NW!

Definitely snowing here, and it's actually trying to settle! Good luck to it, it's gonna be interesting to see how well it does.

  10. Just as well you dont come from Sc'unthorpe as it woiuld never get through the swear filter. :diablo:

Snow grains now coming down with increased intensity.

Having been to the town in question, I can confirm that it isn't worthy of getting through the swear filter! Though one of my housemates has been known to go there occasionally...

Its been snowing here since about 07.30am...constantly.

But whilst its great, depths here have perhaps at best reached 2mm...i've had wider snow flakes than that before :yahoo:

Definately anorexic snowfall here - it's coming down fast, but you're damned if you try and inspect individual flakes - you can't see them!

  11. It's been spitting little white things all morning, all looks decidedly sleety out in this part of Nottingham. :nonono:

Looks like three "bands" at the moment - The large wide one from Liverpool to London covering most of the west mids (Front ede near Notts/Derby)

Second smaller band like its intensifiying on the radar in a line from Aberystwyth to Reading heading north east

And then there is a new 3rd band forming across South Wales in a line from Carmarthenshire across cardiff, Bristol and Bournmouth...

still coming down here... and with lots more to come today possibley

It amazes me, how can you spell Aberystwyth correctly, yet fail to spell Bournemouth correctly! :cray: The number of times I see people spelling the name of what is pretty much my home town wrong...ARRRRRGH! :cray:;)

But never mind, now you know! :D

  12. LMAO that reminds me of Lee Evans when he is talking about driving past an accident and the police officer is like "Move along please theres nothing to see here" and hes like "Well I wasn't thinking about seeing anything until you mentioned it.. Why what the ***** going on??" :p

Personally, I was thinking of South Park's inept police officer, Officer Barbrady. For pure comedy value.

And everyone, please be careful that you don't put -izzle onto the ends of words, otherwise I think Beccaboo's going to wet herself. :D You wouldn't want that on your conscience, now, would you? :D Fo shizzle.

  13. Where's all the Dorset peeps?,Need a bit of input from you,rain,sleet or snow?unknw.gif

Although a "Dorset peep", I'm in Nottingham at the moment, so likely to be about as much use to you as a chocolate teapot in this situation. :cold:

Still, at least you guys are actually likely to see weather (and alcohol, in Matt's case), this thing's barely gonna make it to us! :whistling::D

  14. Was expecting a delivery today from Parcelforce. T'was at Nottingham depot on Saturday, and as the delivery hadn't arrived today as planned, I tracked it.

Apparantley it couldn't be delivered due to 'Adverse Weather Conditions'....urrrmmmm....when did snizzle become adverse weather conditions

It's adverse when it hits Nottingham! It's actually weather, for a change!

  15. Cheers Bri :)

Well at this moment in time it looks like the only places in the Midlands likely to see a decent covering tomorrow is West Midlands. East Midlands in with a very slim chance.

On an off-topic note.. Any snooker fans in here? B)

Yeah, about as slim as Victoria Beckham I'd say. :)

Ooooh, snooker. Why's that, summat interesting happening? :)
