  1. Was gonna say 8, but think I might put it up to a 9 now. Been absolutely cracking, both when in Nottingham (had a tremendous thunderstorm on the evening of 5th June), and back in Bournemouth. Only criticism is an odd one, and that some more rain would be appreciated, but not a lot! And the partly cloudy days that don't really make their minds up. But every time I see a forecast saying rain or cloud, it's normally wrong here, and it's been fantastic lately! pardon.gif

  2. Hello all, I've been taking advantage of the marvellous weather we've been having on the South Coast of England and have finally taken my camera with me when I went for a beach side stroll. I wish I had a better one. Enjoy!

    Boscombe

    Beach towards Southbourne.

The new Boscombe Artificial Surf Reef, evidently not really working.

The non-reef side of Boscombe Pier, i.e. west towards Bournemouth.

Then I walked up to the cliff top at Boscombe for a few snaps.

    Bournemouth

Drove along to town itself and took a stroll along the promenade. For those who know the area, from Bournemouth Pier to Durley Chine.

Then I got up on the cliff for some nice view walking back to town from Durley Chine.

I guess when you've seen one, you've seen them all, but here's the link to all 111 photos I took today on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=197084&id=591331836&l=b2d3dcabef

  3. It's Spring now people, anyone still looking for snow is just futilely clinging on to Winter, any easterlies that come are going to be grey, drab and boring and won't produce any snow. I think we should all be looking for high pressure to set up residence to bring in some well needed sunshine and warmth.

    diablo.gif

Anything you'd like to add, TWS? pardon.giflaugh.gif

  4. But the areas on the NW side would still have snow and thats me and you Teits so I wouldn't be too dispondant. The latest NAE actualy ties in with updated meto warnings at 0300hrs. This correction is bad news for the midlands and better news for the home counties, lets hope it doesn't go any further south or it will end up in the channel, but I wouldnt begrudge Hampshire / Dorset ets a snow event as its very rare for them!

Re the latest forecast it is recorded from early this morning. It is exactly the same as the one on the bbc website. Expect this to update and move the precip out of wales into east mids/ central southern England.

Not sure its even worth watching the country tracks forecast later!!

I would, seeing I'm from Dorset but currently in the Midlands!

Having a look at the 06Z NAE, I don't think anyone's going to be done any favours with the low that far south for a snow event tomorrow, I'd say it would most likely be rain over Southern Counties. Of course, it could snow just to spite me... unsure.gif

  5. Personally i'm fed up of this grey dull cold weather, so spring can roll on with some nice warm sunny days please. air_kiss.gif ahhh.. the thought that in 2 months it will nearly be May where we can see the first real heat of the year rolleyes.gif

May? shok.gif You kidding on, right? Happens that April last year was pretty warm, plenty warm enough - I was down at Sandbanks on the 1st of April last year, it'd been warm for a couple of days before as well if memory serves! That'll do me for real heat, about 20. For heatwaves and that, I'll happily wait for the inevitable in June we often seem to get in Dorset.

...and it probably will! Now snow here - we've not had much this winter at all, just what seems like endless days of low cloud, drizzle and temps 2-5c. Vile! Longing for a change here - really am. Atlantic mild would suit me better!

Oddly, I think I'm used to it. I walked out of the house yesterday thinking "ooh, this is mild" - of course, it spent the evening snowing. In winters gone by, I would have found it bonechilling. I think the lack of light has been affecting me more than lack of heat.

Aw come on, can 45-50cm for Nottingham change that view?

    http://charts.netwea...uksnowdepth.png

    :)

If it must... doh.gif The cold can either give me one epic snow event or go away!

  6. April 2007 = perfect. I can't actually remember a drop of rain falling in Dorset during that.

Spring 2007 was not a tale of constant warm settled weather, it is easy to forget that there was a northerly on 18th-21st March:

    http://www.wetterzen...00120070319.gif

...and it was often unsettled during May 2007:

    http://www.wetterzen...00120070519.gif

I remember a lot of N-W members complained during May in particular following the exceptional April, in some parts of the country the average maximum temperature for May 2007 was below that for April 2007!

Which is why April was specified in my post! crazy.gif

Either way, most of April - June (late June was a little soggy if memory serves) was pretty decent that year, I don't remember many cricket matches being cancelled at all, certainly not as many as the last 2 years have. Surely no-one can begrudge me my desire for a warm, dry summer in pursuit of the sport I love (though occasional showers, especially thundery ones, to keep the fields and pitches nice).

Of course, some rainfall would be nice for the cider apple crops, but preferably when I'm not in the country! drinks.gif

  7. The spring of 2007 was perfect. Aprils 2003, 2007 and 2009 would be a welcome repeat.

Skip spring lets go straight into summer.

April 2007 = perfect. I can't actually remember a drop of rain falling in Dorset during that, great start to the cricket season with a serious lack of matches cancelled!

March 2005 (I think) was pretty good - remember a trip to London where the temp hit 20 or thereabouts.

  8. I've actually noticed the days start to lengthen a bit and started to feel so much happier! I remember last year when it got nice, warm and sunny in March and felt like it was the light at the end of the tunnel, like waking up from a long sleep. I've never really noticed winter have that effect on me (and yes, I do like cold and snow), but the lack of sunlight in Nottingham really does my nut.

Still, can I just hibernate through February? I want to wake up with days that are at least 11 hours in length... unsure.gif

  9. Nice reading and sharing all the excitement with you all and the lack of sleep!,As per normal for us Dorset Folk the masses of snow never came but hey we'll bounce back (probably with a scorcher of a summer bringing the hoards of holidaymakers onto our SUN SOAKED BEACHES !).Great to chat to a few fellow dorset peeps as well and look forward to hopefully typing away on here again before the spring arrives.drinks.gif Dorset Apple Cake or Devon Scrumpy? lol

Dorset Apple Cake and Dorset Cider on a Dorset beach would be ideal! Though as Dorset cider is hard to come by (lush if you find it, look out for Cider by Rosie), I guess that Devon Cider may begrudgingly do... :shok:

Hows about OUR sun soaked beaches ... oh and definately Devon Scrumpy! laugh.gifdrinks.gif

Beach? Devon? HAHAHAHA! Don't make me laugh! Devon's pitiful excuses for beaches can't hold a candle to the ones in beautiful Dorsetshire! :shok:

  10. Well it looks like you lot in the West Midlands got the best of it again. No new covering of snow here in Nottingham and the light snow that is falling is getting lighter by the minute. All in all although we have had snow here in Nottingham during this present cold spell its been nothing of great significance. Certainly nothing special compared to other areas. I know some of you are fed up with the snow now but here in Nottingham im praying those Easterlies come off next week so it will finally be our turn for a good dumping of the white stuff

Eh? It's not got much lighter in NG7! :winky: Still coming down, we've got a dusting on pavements and roads, but I stress, it's only a dusting! :winky:
