  1. Big snow flakes in the rain in Tenby! 2c. A fresh covering around Red Roses- side roads looking tricky- half an hour ago... going to be an interesting evening!
  2. I'm under the impression that if the ring is getting smaller then the weather is going to get worse, if it's getting bigger then more settled weather arriving- but not 100% on that! I'm also led to believe that flickering stars in a clear sky are frequently a precursor to poor weather- showing strong high altitude winds...
  3. NetWeather radar showing freezing rain over SW tip of Cornwall- not sure if that's a good sign or not! Currently 0.5c here, partial cloud cover and still. Frost on the car!!!!! (Got to set the winter weather excitement bar a bit lower in this location!)
  4. Looking on XC-Weather, wind looks to shift SE then E from the early hours, pulling in the negative dew points currently across most of England. A negative point may be that the current temps/dew points seem higher in northern France tonight than they were on Friday evening, so perhaps the initial draw from the SE may not be as productive for snow as during Friday's event. That's my take on it, but happy to be corrected!
  5. Just watched BBC News for SW England- Their map showed extensive snow across much of southern Wales, away from the immediate coastal strip, as far west as St David's, from the early hours onwards (A la latest NAE) and continuing through most of the day! Also been an inch and a half on the moor above Lands End, last night- very rare, apparently. Quietly optimistic... for now. Wind has just shifted Erly here. Temps 1.2c and dropping quickly.
  6. It seems a pretty complex/messy set-up across the country, atm; who knows exactly how these different systems (snow in the NE of Wales arriving from the south east and front appraoaching from the south west) are going to interact with each other? It'd be great if it did push on up because most of S. Wales currently has 850 uppers of -8/-9c, temps of around 0c and dew points below freezing!
  7. SE Wales, atm, looking good again for a significant fall of snow on the 12z Gfs, too. Any chance of a westwards correction on this one, similar to Friday just gone?
  8. Think that's the front that at one stage was due to make land-fall in the early hours of Monday and give another shot at a snow event, now forecast not to quite make it, I believe. Kind of hope snow may be less marginal now we've actually the cold in, in this area anyway. Judge each event has on its merits though, obviously.
  9. Solid covering of snow from Templeton northwards in Pembrokeshire, with a small fresh fall overnight. Quite a bit of snow up on the Preselis- A few snow flakes blowing around in Tenby now and 1.8c. Fingers crossed for next week!
  10. Heavy sleet in Pembroke since 8.30am- I'd be surprised if there's not a lot more snow east of here over the next few hours... I'm hoping for the cold air to cut back west a bit this afternoon and turn what's fallin into 100% snow. Our school's about half staffed, with teachers from the north and east of the county unable to get in...
  11. The precipitation is being reinforced from the SW all the time, currently. The 'main band' passed through here a couple of hours ago and yet it's been sleeting/snowing heavily since then. Also although the precipitation seems to be moving quickly within the band, the actual band is not actually moving east very quickly. I think there's a lot of legs left in this yet for areas further east of here. Forecasts have been pretty good, so far, imo...
  12. Good stuff! Just too warm in Tenby town to settle- it is just up the hill though! It's pretty wild out there! Best put the kettle on...
  13. Looks like another fairly heavy band of precipitation forming in the SW Approaches right now... A40 east Pembs only just passable- http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/southwestwales
  14. Violent winds, heavy wet snow, lights flickering... nice!
  15. Still heavy sleet/snow here, despite the main band having gone through. The precipitation seems to be getting more intense as it hits land.
  16. Just if anybody's thinking of heading that way- M4 blocked in both directions at J36 because of snow! http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/southwestwales
  17. Re the precipitation- looks like more echoes forming to the SW on the radar, so more to come- I hope.
  18. Just been out for a quick drive- heavy settling snow in New Hedges, just up the hill from Tenby. The road's already covered- salt must have been washed away- going to be a right mess when people start trying to move around. Just hope there's enough precip left for us for a couple of hours snow.
  19. Heavy sleet in Tenby, icy bits on car windscreens... anybody further inland in the SW? What's happening there?
  20. A snooze on the couch with one eye on the radar may be a half-way house here. Bit of sleet over North Devon now, too...
  21. First bits of sleet appearing over central eastern Pembs on the Netweather radar... Can I say... 'And so it begins...' in a Lord of the Rings style?
  22. http://expert-images.weatheronline.co.uk/daten/proficharts/en/nae/2013/01/17/basis18/ukuk/prty/13011806_1718.gif The real (!) 18z NAE for 12.00pm - looking good for most.
