  1. Well i'm sorry Essan, what is salt really used for then, I don't really understand ? Care to explain why it can't be applyed straight away on road surfaces? Maybe they shouldn't bother. Maybe a snow plough would be more efficient?
  2. It's an absolute disgrace, tons and tons of stock piled grit ???!! Where are the gritters ?? Even me and my little front wheel drive 106 struggled to get back home earlier on normal main roads.
  3. Hi again people, I've just been out to collect my mate from Droitwitch, I've never known the roads so bad. I think all of the grit has been washed away and it's just a covering of snow and slush. I would urge everyone to try and STAY OFF THE ROADS tonight!!!. I honestly don't know how ive got back, loads of people stranded trying to get up the hills. About two to three inchs here and its still snowing heavly. Temperature 0.4c (Slight melt going on)
  4. Light/Moderate snow, temperature is starting to become a bit of an issue now and will probably start to see it melt i suppose, always the problem with the lower county’s such as Worcestershire. Temperature 0.1c
  5. Well it's snowing moderatly here, I am surprised to hear of rain around telford area.... Like another member said, flakes arn't particaly big but it's giving a nice covering, looks wonderful outside. Temp: -0.7c
  6. It's started to snow here in Bromsgrove (Just south of Birmingham) Temperature did go up briefly just ahead of the front now it's come down slightly thank god. It's going to be an interesting evening in store I think. Temp: 0.3c Dew: -5.0c
  7. I've just brought this weather station to replace my faulty TFA station, It's a brilliant little weather station reliable and accurate !! Can't go wrong with Oregon Scientific. Before you buy a weather station though it's worth having a little think about were your going to placing your sensors , it's quite important and can be over looked*
  8. That BBC News Article was dated March, they reported trouble with gulf stream in July (not bbc ovs) . I'm really confused about this so are you telling me there's no North Atlantic current because judging by the NOAA Charts ....well it's not there lol ?? I may just be stupid and reading it wrong.
  9. Very heavy snow in Bromsgrove at the moment even at 65 meter above sea level there's a good covering here and on the roads to! Look at the tilt on that get in there my son, more snow for brum area
  10. Birmingham International Airport still closed due to snow on the runway , (doesn't surprise me one bit) Some big problems on the motorways and major roads around brum at the moment. IF YOU DON'T NEED TO TRAVEL DON'T SIMPLE AS!. You've been warned.
  11. Trouble is most of the people that buy 4x4s don't really know how to drive them off road or in adverse conditions, espc those BMWs with the big chunky road tyres. There useless. 90 Defender Land Rover mate, that's a proper four-wheel drive.
  12. What are the main roads like around Redditch loopy ? There's around 5 cm here in Bromsgrove.
  13. Not to far away from me now, looks like it's just about arrived at Worcester. Reddich post code is around 7 miles east from my location.... (loopy dreamers area)
  14. It was the same by All saints school apparently this morning , people in there cars/bues couldn't get up the hill to the school , mayhem lol. Reddich is annoying and 'hilly' For Tuesday into Wednesday, Sleet at lower levels and snow at elevated levels i think. Interesting that the 06z and the 12z wants to bring that front a lot further inland on Tues/Weds.
  15. Yes looking very interesting the 06z.... I await the 12z.
  16. Hello Gord, yep that's the current situation here as well , shame really if the ground was nice and dry (or dryer) and the temperature a little lower we'd be in business .... can't have everything in life.
  17. That system in the west is currently moving away , while in the east there is a streamer being set up , the main area of interest is Sunday night in to Monday. And yes it's melting here to Like Chris said i think that system to the west pulled some slightly milder air in across the south. B)
  18. Would be nice to some snow being replaced on the trees as well , the suns thawed it out over the last 3 to 4 days. (well my my location anyway) I don't think that will be a problem with that Easterly wind.
  19. I agree weather09 , 1-2 inch's would be a sensible estimate. Can't really see us getting any more than that from this. Francis also said on sky news weather around an inch or two as well for midlands. Doesn't bother me lol , I think seeing a little more snow is a bonus considering what past events have gave us. For Wednesday, i think that low isn't nailed yet, and needs to be watched carefully! ... It's bound to change.
  20. And were did you hear this ? Media ramping ? Edit: sorry i miss read your post , i think an inch is possible yes. But i doubt whether the army would get involved even if was bad. lol .......Unless a lot of people got stranded in there cars ???
  21. Both GFS and Nogaps (the last time i checked) and even the BBC are hinting of a least light snow on sunday and into monday , GFS is clearly showing/hinting more interesting developments later on in the evening on Sunday. Although ..... the Met Office have dropped there warnings or 'Advisories' for Sunday and Monday. Now cast situation i think. I'm quite confident we'll see something at the end weekend.
  22. B**** H*** -16c ! I recorded -9c wind chill last night, certainly looking mild compared to that figure lol..
  23. I take it that's in the form of 'Showers' at the weekend rather than fronts and troughs ? I haven't really viewed the fax charts yet.
