  1. I remember it well, weird and wild weather, power cuts were bad due to frozen power lines.......
  2. A small area of low pressure running north to South down the western side or the Eastern side of the UK
  3. That's not what I see from those charts......as you say it is all academic at this point......
  4. Unseasonably warm SST's will mess up any chances of a lowland snow event on this occasion if this were to pan out.........
  5. I'd say the lightning is more severe than last evening just to the west of the Channel Islands moving into Lyme Bay, if it maintains the current strike rate when it gets closer then there will be fun............
  6. Outside the meto and netweather warning area haha but I'm sure they will pop up elsewhere through the rest of the day........
  7. This happened roughly 1.30pm to 2.30pm yesterday afternoon, developed very quickly from no where......
  8. West Dorset hit by flooding WWW.BRIDPORTNEWS.CO.UK Bridport has been struck by flash flooding.
  9. Going by that chart we had around 50mm of rain in one hour hence the severe flash flood that occurred yesterday in the Bridport area.
  10. Its turning out to be a bit of a white elephant for most as usual.......maybe radio 2 know something we don't
  11. It rained pretty steady in Bridport for an hour or so but has done very little to moisten the ground!
  12. Yes i have read this but it is far from a marked contrast, the latter would be cool temps and lots of rain, its in the wording!
  13. "the second half of August will be a marked contrast to the first half. As the Met Office have said" Can't say i have seen or heard this quoted by the Met Office?
  14. Not a dead cert, more likely early Sunday if at all! I'm DJ at a party Saturday in a field so I'd rather there is no lightning or rain lol.....
  15. I'm with the met office, no significant breakdown. In 1976 the breakdown was coming for weeks but never came till September! Massive thunderstorms and power cuts, a good old fashioned breakdown may be worth the wait!
  16. The increased frequency of blocked patterns is more likely to be climate change related.
  17. I've noticed this summer how the radars are not always that accurate, with lightning detection, i have been sat under storms which have not been picked up........
  18. There has been a couple of rumbles near me.......crazy how these showers have developed from no where!
