pfft the worst of it is over now, was really optimistic it was all kicking off still pretty heavy out there mind, the local weather station recorded about 6mm within a 10 min period easily, thought it might have been worse than that tbf. hopeful we might get a fair bit later still from various convection brewing up. must be creaming themselves in norfolk, lucky buggers

Woop big thunderstorm here now!!!
told you, great scenes, plenty of electrical activity, wonder what the rainfall reading was?
-
Cant see where its coming from tbh. Earlier in the day it looked great for an MCS to track our way but slowly through the day it looks like the E mids as per usual. But ive enjoyed the heat and at least I got to hear a little thunder this evening.
tomorrow daytime i meant, plenty of time
-
Same feeling here now. Everything just seems to have magically shifted East tonight. Even southerly winds shortly arriving replacing the SW/SSW ones wont be enough. Leicestershire to Lincs in the ripe zone again.
patience, we will get our turn, i'm confident
-
Still a big old load of sweet nothing here, the Worcester cell has classic sliding 5-10 miles east of here syndrome written all over it, unless something explodes SW of here there's no hope
dontcha just love telford meanwhile, hopefully here in the bridge, we'll get something, pretty pweez, need some rain!

Getting rather excited now.
So far during this cold spell the snow that has fallen in my location has appeared on the NW radar as either dark blues or greens with the green representing moderate/heavy snow. Im really hoping to see the yellows or reds which can potentially gives inches in hrs.
Going to be a late night for some of us and those who want to take pics will need to get up early although im not expecting a quick thaw tomorrow. This will occur late on Saturday into Sunday.
when do you expect the heaviest stuff TEITS, ill be passing your patch on the train about half 9?
-
really bricking it for this train journey, especially as things over EA will get bad later this evening!
-
just get on the bloody train!!!!
haha i like that attitude, motivation!
-
i would personally go ahead with it. that's around the time when it will be peaking in the midlands, obviously its bout now casting and anything could happen but i don't think it will be bad enough by then. midnight would be tricky
yeah im getting the train, so im essentially chasing the front, its whether itll have accumulated enough in leicester by like half 8, or peterborough by half 9, for there to be issues.
-
decided im going to travel. my biggest concern is peterborough to norwich, leaving around half 9 at night, but i should think/hope that services will be running.
-
still undecided with my train! tempted to risk it. my biggest concern is peterborough to norwich, leaving around half 9 this evening when the snow is meant to be heavy around that rea.
-
supposed to be getting a train at 7.20pm from birmingham to norwich, really unsure whether to risk it tonight. im tempted to say no, but i could lose 30 quid because the 'trains may still be running'
-
its due to arrive earlier now brumsnows. serendipity it is tempting but if i get stuck in somewhere like peterborough or ely it'll be a pretty bleak sort of night to say the least. plus ill lose 30 quid if its not delayed
-
right, big call to make. head on the 19.22 from new street to norwich tonight? what would other people do?
-
Cant you leave earlier azores ... be worth it to enjoy the journey
easier said than done with pre booked train tickets :/ national rail would have none of it due to different pricing in tickets
-
The PPN will be chasing you ! But you should be OK as any snow will not be significant by the time you get to Norwich.
well i get in at 11 so itll be mighty tight, hopefully it can delay by a few hours, that'd be ideal
-
i hope it is rain. may be ok for some of you but i have to go from birmingham to norwich around half 7 tomorrow evening on the train. im praying to god it rains instead of snows as ive been looking forward to this weekend for sometime, and im pretty worried atm!
-
good riddance for now, can travel without problems!
-
oh well guys, cant complain too much! we've done well outta this
-
meh, no more than snizzle here which isnt accumulating really.
-
dont really wanna look on model thread, will take enjoyment of this away, but GFS been concering, but UKMO stays cold well into thursday with no sign of mild mush
yeah quite grim really, just enjoy the moment i guess. we've had a good snowfall today and ive made full use of it, good walk and a decent snowball fight!
-
If you lived where i live and have watched literally 80% of snow events that have hit other parts of the region, miss this one, you'd understand what i mean, just ask Leicester folk
but thats quite IMBY, on a countrywide scale, its been fairly good in areas but i don't know if id class it with one of the greats, certainly not in many parts of the west midlands. we'll see whats to come. im content with today anyway, a good 8cm of snow and very wintry all round.
-
Doing really well here must be 6" so far but that's on top of last night's inch.
Gonna go down in the history books this winter imo.
you think? its been chilly here but up until now theres been very little noteworthy weather.
-
id say 3cm atm. a nice little covering but nothing apocalyptic, the way it should be imo.

had a corker just, mustve been a good 10 flashes of lightning within 5 mins with a deluge to boot, wish id got some photos. I'd say rainfall came to about 6mm within a 5-10 min period.
