Is it snowing in Halesowen then? Rain here
whereabouts in stourbridge are ya?
-
rain here in the port, weird how its snowing further south
-
Not sure they got it that spot on, last night they forecast that the 2nd band would be rain for Leicester but it was snow all the way through. They did get it right for the West Midlands though sadly.
pah, go away
-
Looking at the charts/models for Friday it does look promising for this area of the country. We could be seeing significant snowfall in areas.
too far off to take note of!
-
You must feel physically sick with today's outcome!
used to it tbh, always you guys in the east mids!
-
So the Telford snow shield completely shattered for a while, had some heavy snow showers through the Cheshire gap overnight, however it's now raining and starting to melt...
at least you have some height, its hopeless down here in newport!
-
lets just face it, its very very hard to get any snowfall around here!
-
come on the snow! even in usually snowless newport!
-
That is not negative, every single forecast, model, dew points etc all suggest pure rain, and T12 not really FI
we can't write off the rest of the week though mark. anyway, there are fine lines in dew points as we all know. tomorrows a different day and the warm sector may be much further west.
-
covering here, tomorrow is rain all the way for west of midlands, and then rain later through cheshire Gap, at least dry tue to fri
thats the spirit, never know mark...
-
Yes we do. The back edge is clearing Shrewsbury now and there's nothing behind it. Still...2 hours ago it was looking like nothing and we're going to get a dusting tonight at least. Could be worse.
Still tomorrow as well...alhtough I'm not holding my breath!
still chucking it down northwest of oswestry according to my mate so not sure thats quite right.
-
whiteout here, treacherous underfoot.....
then i told the missus its time to use the old scalp lotion
-
Hmm just seen the beeb forecast and the second band of ppn was mainly RAIN for most of the midlands? Maybe the far east midlands staying with all snow so much chopping and changing in each forecast
not even that, a wintry mix in the east midlands with an all rain event in the west midlands tomorrow. tonight, however, could deliver a couple of cms in places.
-
The BBC forecast for most of the Midlands is actually very good, keeps 20 miles west of Birmingham eastwards in the snow zone for both bands.
It's encouraging because the Beeb generally put us in sleet or rain even when it's actually snowing out side.
i think its just to give a margin for error, as i think anywhere west of perhaps wolverhampton is going to struggle imo
-
gah i envy you folk over there. we're all tearing our hair out at the possibility of a pesky mild sector turning most of the precip to sleet or rain. think telford will be way too far west for anything fun!
-
id guess 8-9pm onwards?
-
not banking on anything this far west really, but as ever wait and see
-
Tonight it's the turn of the East Midlanders to relax and look forward to lots of snow while over here in the West Midlands, we're still shuffling in our seats uneasily about it. Wonder who'll be doing the squeaky bum dance tomorrow!
In Dudley, we have some elevation on our side, I would have thought that would help our cause. We're one of the highest areas in the built up area of the West Midlands.
when did you leave the stourbridge crew? you moved to upper gornal to be in the highest part of the borough didnt ya
-
Any pictures of your snow peeps? I know its not much but im here in Falmouth and its 7c!!! I want snow!
the day it snows in falmouth is the day we know that thermohaline circulation has been majorly affected by AGW!
just about to set off from Didcot to Villa Park, here's hoping for a snow free afternoon
heres hoping for a saints win also!
-
A few flakes blowing around in the breeze at The Hawthorns, bitter brrrrrrrr!
3 points at reading would be nice, shame i couldnt make it, dont have the money atm going to qpr and villa in the week though
-
I dunno, West Brom do OK.
heeeey. i think paul t has it spot on there. theres a lot of energy in the atlantic as shown in the gfs run tonight, which could start the atlantic steamroller, returning low pressure back up towards iceland and therefore killing any cold prospects. all in the air atm.
-
Still have hope to see some flakes tommorow, not so much from the low, but from showers heading west from the wash area
need to get some head and shoulders then mate
-
i think we need to stay grounded here. as exciting as the prospect may seem, until maybe 24 hours (or maybe less) before the snow falls anything can happen. its so difficult especially as the best snow events are often marginal. dont be surprised if a number of people get sleet or rain to lower levels(especially telford and the wrekin... it never snows there! ) and keep the prozac near just incase! for me im expecting rain from whatever falls next week.... but im cautiously optimistic we'll get a little snow at least

mainly too far west tbf though. as gord says we are quite far inland(yet the alps are hundreds of miles inland and have great convection rates for snowfall) so low pressure systems rarely have the energy to give much when the showers originate from the east. best snowfalls for us are battleground situations, which as any weather watcher will know are unpredictable and at best a 'few hours before the event' situation
