  1. 2 questions...

ND filters or a polarizing filter?

Do I need a step-down voltage converter for my UK appliances once in the states?

    Cheers

    Lewis

    Hey lewis,

Good Polarizing filter for the daytime cloud stuff is great. If you want a stab at daytime lightning without a trigger the ND8 which I know you have would be great. I've never done this successfully myself.

Almost everything electrical you bring over there will be rated for 110 - 240 v (your camera(s), camcorder, laptop, phone etc... check the power supply first though to be sure) so what most of us bring is a 4 gang (or more) UK extension lead with a 1 US to UK converter so you can charge 4 or more devices without hogging every socket in your hotel room.

    See ya soon.

  2. AA have stranded me in New York and Chicago on seperate occasions, having me to spend the night in both airports to get to their desks first at 5:00 to change the replacement flights their computer put me on. In fairness the AA staff did heir very best to get me on a more suitable flight and eventually got me on a much better Aerlingus flight back to Shannon. i've been flying BA ever since. I was appalled last year when I only realised when doing online checkin that my nice BA flights were actually AA code share flights. I payed extra for BA. Thankfully those flights worked out OK with the exception of the lack of comfort, headphones that make your ears bleed and no free booze.

In short for me, B.A good, AA BAD!

  3. Did you get the carbon splinters out of your hand John?! Time lapse made me lol at 40sec (maybe that's how you got them?!) Nice one Arron

Carbon splinter still there mate. Souvenir of a good weekend in my opinion though. The video might explain the splinters for sure,

  4. Huge thanks to Tom and Jannett for organising everything. I couldn't think of a better location for a BBQ. Proximity to the pub was also perfect :drunk:

Was great to meet up with everyone again and meet some new faces.

In my defence for the sleepy snoozy pic, I had been up since 4 AM with about 2 hours sleep the night before. Screw you Arron! How come there's 2 pics of me and just 1 of Tom? :acute:

Will put some pics up when I get home from work this evening.

  5. all good will bring up my spare and a sleeping bag for you.

Your a good man. There will be a beer in it for you. Not in the sleeping bag... you know what I mean.

I wonder if John is bringing any of his footage

Ian from Dublin put together a good DVD, so I'll bring that. Didnt get a chance to do anything with my footage / photos yet.

  6. Lappie with storm porn now you are talking :D:D

I wonder if John is bringing any of his footage

Probably a better idea for me not to bring a hard drive with footage, suglasses or watch. Tom is it OK to drop off at a supermarket or beer place to get grub for the grill and liquid supplies on way back from train station?

  7. looking forward to the weekend guys. Just gotta stock up on beer etc etc.

Does anyone still need to borrow a tent/sleeping bag?

I do for sure lewis. Only so much i can get into hand luggage on a cheap flight. If i could borrow I would really appreciate it mate.

  8. Tom;s been on via email a few times to me today. Hes probably been in every camp site up there, but having issues with bookings or max groups of 5 etc. He's just been on again and seems to have found an ideal spot in Shap, just off M6 and 2 or 3 Pubs within walking distance.

He will be on with more details later.

Good place for storms too apparently. :drunk:
