  1. A short piece of video. Just to add my son Jack did a fantastic job with the navigation. We only had 1 GPS unit which was running the Baron which meant Streets and Trips was used just as a map with Jack working out where we were. Not ideal, I have now down loaded a program to allow 2 programs off 1 GPS so hopefully it will be a little easier next week.:wallbash:

Welcome Martin. If you’re not using it already I'd recommend Franson GPSGate for sharing your GPS receiver between multiple apps. They've recently released a free version (express). We use it all the time, but we tend to have multiple GPS receivers with us for redundancy etc.

    last year I bought a 12ft Antenna...no kidding..lol...ask anyone

    For what?

You know me mate, Wallmart stop serving beer at 10:00 at the latest depending on the state. I'll always have a few Heineken's on reserve for end of chase day, and I normally get a few more bud or something to make sure none of ye touch my Heineken. :acute:

  3. Ian doesn't look impressed in the first keyring lol!

Remember I had to take Ian back to the the hotel in an unusual reversal or roles as he was worse for ware. That was in or about that time give or take.

Oh screw it. Ian and I are a couple. There ya happy!

  4. Thats a great shot right there John, mind if I ask for the shot settings?

    Hi Criag,

That one was ISO 200 f/6.3 and 2 second exposure. I thought the exposure was longer but just shows how bright / close the strike was. Was zoomed out to the max my 18 - 55 would let me.

  5. From a lightning point of view that is a night I will never forget. The frequency of the lightning strikes was unreal. I should point out that you can only see about 10% of the strikes in that clip in the field of view of the camera. We had lightning north, south, east and west all at the same time.

This is probably my fav lightning pic from that storm, its a bit over exposed and shame about the truck but it did allow for the leader to be photographed before the return stroke which is rare enough to get on camera.

  6. Yeah I was just going to suggest that its probably a good idea to use a DSLR for video these days now since its affordable now. Dam good sensor, loads of manual controls and more importantly awesome lenses that you probably have already if you've owned a DSLR before.

I'm probably going to get either the Canon 60D or the 7D before I head out. Both do full 1080i video as well as being a dam good camera. I'll still bring the 450D out as a backup.

And now we have a message from the Northern Monkey

There's one in Dallas.... well Arlington which is a little outside. Its called Six Flags over Texas. Was there a few times when I was over on a business trip years ago. Was pretty good.

  8. Yes we phoned for a pizza whilst a severe storm was approaching. They delivered on time too. The interesting thing was the girls in the Sonic next door were also serving as normal.

    Tom

They did stop briefly when the Sonic about 50 ft from out hotel room got hit by lightning. :o That was some boom!

  9. Ye, i seen that video Paul, should be fun hearing everyone asking us wer we all are from ... Im not looking forward to hearing them saying... "IORLAND" aye? ....:wallbash:

On a different note.... Have any of the fokes here chased a hurricane? :)

The last time a cop stopped me (for speeding) the sheriff said "Good to see you guys are finally getting along" referring me being the minority Irish and all the English in the back.
