What time u arriving that day at John?
I land at about the same time as you. 19:20. Who are you flying with? We should probably meet up in the terminal and make our way to whatever Hotel from there.
-
Hey people.... Anyone staying / stayed here? http://www.granddfw.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp
Its seems to be right in the area of the airport , which id like, less hassel for me the better
Or is it better to go to the hotel wer everyone is meeting on the 20th?
thanks,
Ian
Paul... Nice read there, everyday theres something on here to keep the excitement up! ha
I havn't booked anything yet for the 20th Ian. We normally stay in the Best Western in Irving, but that hotel does look nice. Have you checked the rates yet?
very boring with lots of throwing footballs around or watching Youtube Clips on the Internet.
Yeah, 2 girls 1 cup.

Trevor Mitchell is the Final Space on Tour 1 Btw
Good man Trevor! Delighted your heading out again. I had a great time with you and Andy last year. You'll have to look after Tom and Ian for me. BTW the dynamic between Paul and Ian is the exact same as between meself and Paul, which can be fun ..... to look at from a far.

I could not resist in showing this. Without Paul's knowledge we made a little modification to the verbal warnings given by the Baron system. Instead of the normal voice, it sounded like Pat. We all enjoyed the moment.
Tom
Lovely rope out stage visible at 33 seconds just abot when Paul says Oh my word. Anyone spot it?
EDIT: its actually as clear as day in the Youtube thumbnail

John
If your friend books in the next few weeks, for gawds sake make sure he flies on the 1710 or 1805 or 2100 Flight :w00t:
He'll be in merica already and staying in merica like. :winky:

I am going to ask Paul M to put into the booking terms for next year asking people to try and get flights back after a certain time, what do people think of this idea
I was thinking about this yesterday and thought it would be a good idea and probably the only way to deal with this scenario.
I guess most people are only out for 1 tour and are paying alot of money to chase, so I think most if not all guests would be agreeable to getting an afternoon or evening flight to maximize the number of chase days and not have the final chase day be a travel day. That would be my opinion anyway.

I'm about 21:15 mate. Tried to get the usual BA one we get at just after 17:00 but didn't and to be honest cant remember why.
No worries, worth a try with them and if they say no... not a big deal. We could always do an all nighter hehe.
-
Going to check my flight to see if I can change it....but dont get your hopes up....I will enquire tonight on phone..with AA
if THERE IS A BETTER DEAL
No pressure Pat. But if its possible to sort something that be great for all involved. If its just for the sake of £60 i'll carry the cost. Trouble is a 9:30 am airport drop off on June 1st makes May 31 st a travel day, so a 10 day chase becomes a 9 day chase. I thought you were doing this the last 2 years With that said we might be lucky and get a Texas chase on the 31st.

Im sorry mate Tornado outbreak is reserved for T2
I will save you some pics
Pat mate, I'm 100% there will be a major Kansas outbreak on May 31st tour 3. Best we be in different cars if it happens that day on the way back to Dallas.

the latest I could get for me was
WED 01JUN
12:45 PM
Oh great. 14 hour wait in the airport for me then. Thanks Pat!

Was watching that myself , does Stu go on tours wit u's or on his own??
Oh ye, whats this people about ESTA Application?, i persume ill need to do one considering ive never been to america b4 ha
Yip you'll need one. Its the online version of the Visa waiver form you used to have to fill in on the plane or on arrival. Its good for 2 years. It used to be free but there is a small charge now. No rush in getting it but make sure you do it a week or two before you fly.
I think they might still make you fill out the Visa waiver form also but that on the way out. Either way, its essential you get it done.
Stu doesn't go with us but we bump into him a good bit. He's normally with Roger Hill and Silver Lining tours. He sometimes drives for them.

As promised. Grabed this off me Sky plus box. Steward Robinson talking about storm chasing on de telly in Ireland.
-
Just booked me flights for tour 3. I'm going to arrive a day early to get some sleepies as theres about 2 chances of that happening with me on the plane.
Just after I booked, I flicked over to and Irish TV show called The Pannel and who was on it only Stewart Robinson talking about Tornadoes, Hurricanes and chasing etc. They totally pulled the p * SS out of him, but thats what the show is all about. He came across well in fairness.
I'll post it up here tomorrow and I get a chance to rip it off the sky plus box.

Hey People,
Just wondering , has anyone booked flights yet?
Im trying to wait myself for january sales,
Im gonna be flying from dublin and i persume it would be just best to go straight over to america instead of goin to stansted or something 1st?
The weeks are flying by!, cant wait!
I normally find it cheaper to just go to the Irish BA or AA website and select DFW from here (Cork) this will include an Aerlingus flight to Heathrow that will be a hell of allot cheaper than booking the connecting flight separately.
We normally meet up in the Hotel in Heathrow the night before flights on tour 1 for the pre-stormchase management meeting / meet up. I used to book a separate flight to London to accomodate this, but have found in recent years that if you can book that as a single trip the automated system fill give you a much cheaper round trip for the inconvience for having to arrange possible overnight accomodation, which I needed anyway.

Watching that I kinda felt sorry for the Discovery crew. If it were me all I'd want to do is drop the camera and help etc. Must have felt like crap just filming all that chaos when people desperately needed help.
-
May I suggest we us the same GPS tracking technology that we use stateside to make sure Pat doesn’t go AWAL on us again.

Ian Pickering..... Legend! That was without a doubt the best BBQ I’ve ever been at. Well worth the trip from Cork and then some.
Was great to catch up with everyone again. Ian, tell your dad I’ll be back for some of that home brew that I had about 5 mins before I nearly fell in the BBQ. That was good stuff.
Special thanks to Nick for getting Paul, Ian and I there and back on the M25 car park. Cheers to Paul, Lou and the cutest kids I think I’ve ever met for making me feel at home.
Thanks to Trevor for the DVD of photos. Nice to have since I had bog all time to take pics of my own this year. Bugger cant find it now though. I’m sure its here somewhere.
Thanks to Tom for err being Tom.

Waking up in the garden at 6 o'clock this morning on a work day wasn't too clever either, oops!
Cammie
You'll feel right at home with this bunch then.

Hi Jo
it isnt as bad as it looks but nether is it as big as i remember so if you have room to bring it John and I could have one each , if there isnt enough room in this one. but you may not need to go to too much trouble. Going to miss Pat too. Johns quiet, must have seen the tent. I am putting together some Thai dish called Nam, by dish i do mean food.
Tom
Yer alright Joe. I believe there is a place booked for me in the Sherminators 9 man superduper individual compartmental with living area in the middle dot com Tent.
-
Oh dear.
I dont think we will be too bothered at that stage.
-
So is just about everyone camping?
-
Good to have you on board Ian!
-
sorry guys - i will be working in the middle east while this is on. Shame as it sounds like a real drink and food fest.
Ah bugger, Wont be the same without you mate. Looks like we'll have to being out inflatable stu again. Ian you still got inflatable stu?
-
Pat can now be a happy camper too. I have borrowed a tent from my daughter, as of now, I not certain (dont read this bit John) how many holes are in it or if it is water tight, but it is a tent.
Tom
You know me Tom, I'm not fussy. I am now also a cappy hamper!
