  1. Revolting and because I grade summer based on heat AND storms, it was worse than 2007 and 2012 in my location.
  2. At least astronomical summer looks like going out with some pleasant weather. Hopefully it’ll stay freakishly warm until the 1st December where we have a 2010 redux and then spring can start on Jan 1st.
  3. No but seriously June was really nice, July was really awful and august was aggressively mediocre I obviously also factor in storms when rating the summer as a whole and there were none - so for me it’s been a pretty crap summer personally. Hopefully a week of nice weather to come before I buckle down for the next 8 months.
  4. Summer was crap. There I said it. Close thread.
  5. Without derailing the thread I do have an pulse oximeter thing (a relic left over from covid) and my doctor suspects I might have POTS (I have mild chronic fatigue syndrome) and my blood sats have been fine (always above 96) even when feeling short of breath - but as you say, can’t hurt to get checked out!
  6. Thanks for looking out for me - I’ll make an appointment tomorrow morning for next week if I can!
  7. I think we all know the U.K. climate is generally quite pants if it’s heat or cold you’re after - doesn’t stop you from hoping though! Yes thank you, much better now though still have odd moments of shortness of breath and dizziness. Was weird whatever it was!
  8. Wait until we get to winter mate and you’ll see the handbags being tossed around when it isn’t blizzards and drifting snow. I don’t think anyone is ‘taken aback’ per se, more frustrated than anything.
  9. Yeah it’s definitely fair the heat lovers get 1 month out of 12 to enjoy and you get the other 11 . I don’t understand this unhealthy fear of the sun and temperatures above 21 degrees but each to their own
  10. Someone had to say it I predicted summer was over on like the 28th June or something and I was bang on. Where are my plaudits?
  11. Although august has seen some improvement it’s not really been a sandwich summer June was like a delicious slice of freshly baked homemade bread July was like a runny dogs**t filling August is a bland rivita cracker to go ontop. I suppose you could technically make a sandwich out of that if you tried I dunno if a volatile seven week period can be called an episode really.
  12. Bye bye Summer 2023 and please never come back.
  13. The English Channel usually kills storm development except for today when the storms would rather do anything than venture into Hampshire. Summer 2023 ends with not a single storm following in the footsteps of 2022 and 2021. Crazy really to think about.
  14. Oddly enough mosquitoes don’t like me When we go on holiday to the south of France, my missus and her family get absolutely mauled and I’m left untouched. Not sure why - my blood tastes gross I guess.
  15. It’s ridiculously pleasant outside today - why oh why couldn’t summer have had more days like this. It’s not too hot and feels lovely just sat out in a t shirt and shorts.
  16. I swear I’ve seen people in this thread claiming that all the farmers they know have absolutely loved this summer
  17. Looking pretty grim for the end of august now. Things that were forecast but didn’t come to pass: A summer with repeated plumes and breakdowns A ‘sandwich’ summer I think I’ll stick to reading the tea leaves over LRF’s in future.
  18. 13th August 2020 The last summer storm we had here. Will we achieve a summer storm in 2024? Find out next year!
  19. Not quite! Still got a horrible cough (productive now thankfully) and get odd periods of shortness of breath. I do have a predisposition to what my doctor called "viral asthma" which is where anything that goes to my chest can give me temporary asthma symptoms. If i'm still hacking my guts up after the weekend, I might think about getting a short course of steroids or something to hopefully clear it through.
  20. Yeah fair enough. As i've said before, I think the reason this summer feels particularly awful to some is because we had the nice weather in June and then a huge block of drivel - had the nice weather been broken up and mixed in amongst the bad weather, it probably wouldn't have "felt" as awful!
  21. I do fear for some if we genuinely have a poor summer, sunshine-wise. I'm referring to the March-Sep period which is when the sun is supposedly strong enough to allow the body to convert sunlight into vitamin D. March was one of the wettest ever - and well below average sunshine April had well below average sunshine May had slightly above average sunshine apparently - though I believe this was dragged up by the final 3rd (there was a lot of cloud cover which extended this far west at times) June was great - no complaints there July was well below average sunshine August has surely had below average sunshine so far. I get we are all different and some people think we've had a decent summer which is fine - more power to them, but my perception is vastly different. Anecdotally, this is the first summer where I've had to put the garden furniture away at the end of July because it's getting ruined by the endless moisture and rain. Its the first summer I can recall being cold in my house and having to put the heating on in July. Its the first summer I've seen fairly extensive "tinting" of hedgerows and other plants along with extensive fungal growth this early in the year. Its the first summer I can remember having 6-7 weekends on the bounce of low-pressure barrelling through the country. If this TRULY is a decent/average summer, then I DREAD what a poor summer will look like. It might just finish me off.
