  1. That storm approaching Newcastle looks pretty gnarly on radar
  2. Starting to think the central south should just be left off forecasts in future until science figures out why thunderstorms simply cannot form in this area of the planet. must be our unique geography or something.
  3. I’m now worried about that second mass of s***e coming out of France my weather app is saying full sun for later but surely that can’t be correct.
  4. Yeah but even when the cooler air moves south over the next couple of days and the air masses meet right over my house, nothing will happen - for some reason. Instead of forcing the air upwards, The cooler air will just politely move the warmer air away in a violent period of moderate drizzle.
  5. It literally starts to die the second it leaves the French coast - anything that does make it this far is just a drizzly mess which then reinvigorates as soon as it leaves the area. Elevated/surface based - it doesn’t matter. The central south has become less thundery than the arctic circle. The only thing we see here now are ‘thundery showers’ from the SW which are about as exciting as BBC 2
  6. Looking at the radar, I’m hoping the pretty unforecast mass of rain will have moved through within a few hours so I can still bbq later this afternoon
  7. I have a feeling my bbq may be rained off by that mass of pointless s***e moving in off the channel
  8. I’m gonna go for something a bit further north today I reckon - Newcastle down to Stockton in the east and then Blackpool down towards Manchester in the west. Definitely feel Newcastle/Sunderland area will be ‘lit’ later on
  9. Pointless messy crap moving up from the south. Yay
  10. The channel does seem to kill even elevated convection these days. There’s just something about the south coast that inhibits any form of convection
  11. Channel doesn’t seem to be inhibiting storm development (elevated I’m guessing) - expanding quite nicely on radar - should be a great view from Plymouth
  12. Thanks mate - I don’t like to see anyone suffering and we’re all here because we find the weather interesting in one way or another so I essentially hope everyone gets what they want at some point!
  13. They’re very cool creatures - however, rabies is nightmare fuel!
  14. I saw a bat last night too! Quite a rare sight for me
  15. Hang in there gang - not long until you get some relief
  16. People could be having bbqs I suppose? I know I can’t afford a beer garden really
  17. That’s so weird and I’m not doubting your experience but I drove over to my mums earlier and all the pubs I passed - the beer gardens were heaving
  18. It’s been no worse here than 2022 and 2021 which also featured absolutely no storms. Three years running now in summer. We seem to do better in May/October for thunder so here’s hoping.
  19. This evening definitely feels the warmest of this spell to me. The air feels tropical almost. Just went an ordered a nice Jalfrezi to cool me down
  20. If anything is to happen here (it won’t) really need stuff to fire off around Jersey/Cherbourg peninsula
  21. Just need the SW stuff to happen and it’s a full house
