Kinda agree with this. I love the long days of summer - the light mornings and evenings but WHEN it’s not gloomy in winter, the light has a lovely soft and mellow look rather than the harshness of summer
I agree with allseasons it’s likely the gap between two hail curtains. It’s too skinny IMO for a downburst and too weird a shape for a funnel cloud/tornado
I imagine it’s because storm motion is generally NE and so if anything fires down south/midlands, it has the longest land-track to mature into a proper storm
also looking at the topography, it’s basically flat in a diagonal line from say Oxford NE
Yeah I’m only half joking with the geography thing.
post 2007 we went through a storm drought here in the central south until around 2013-14 where we experienced a renaissance until 2020 - so fingers crossed they’ll be back one day!
I’m sure people in here are sick to the back teeth of hearing me whinge - I am extremely jealous but happy for everyone who caught a storm today - some amazing pics and accounts and I’ve been following it all unfolding (doing my own little virtual chase from the couch) so thanks everyone!
Exactly the same here - came from the east in August 2020.
At least you get forecast storms! You might as well chop the south of the U.K. off in summer
Goodbye my summer. Goodbye my friend.
Sad the heat yet again goes out with a whimper and my mate messaged me these to rub it in
