  1. You and I must be reading completely different forums.
  2. on course for the most stormless summer of all time here. I DID get a funnel cloud from a photogenic convective shower (no thunder) which I'm very happy for, but all i've had so far is ONE distant rumble sometime back in May and I'm not even sure it was thunder tbf.
  3. Likewise, I'm not a huge fan of snow and cold (though I still get a weird, childlike giddy feeling when it snows) but I know other people adore it and I say good for them and I hope they enjoy it. You won't catch me in here guilt tripping people all Winter long. I know this heat is a struggle for a lot of people (even I find it tough at work etc) so I do sympathise. It'll be over fairly shortly though.
  4. 11-12 degrees in winter is pleasant enough for all to enjoy but it doesn't stop people (understandably) wishing for freezing temps and snow. I'm also pretty sure the vulnerable and those on the poverty line struggle to stay warm when we have a deep, cold snap. I'll never understand the need for people complaining about other people's weather preferences...on a weather forum.
  5. I think posters should be allowed to discuss any season all year round - I do understand the need to keep things organised and free from clutter though. Just an observation I made as I was shot down for posting a spring thread too early, not a dig at you for posting this thread:)
  6. Maybe, just pointing out the Spring thread this year wasn't allowed until March *shrug*. The spring 2020 thread was allowed on Feb 21st, so 7 days before spring. This autumn thread is a full 43 days before autumn. CrAzY.
  7. Hilariously we weren't allowed a spring moans thread until March 3rd (I was told off for making one just before this which was locked) but we are allowed an Autumn thread in mid-July. Excellent.
  8. Regarding the hot vs cold debate I find it equally hard to warm up as I do to cool down - probably because I’m quite small. I also have what I think is probably undiagnosed trigeminal myalgia and when it’s cold/blustery my face becomes a world of pain. I also get achey joints etc in the cold. I will concede however working in my tin box office with no air con is pretty horrendous for the afternoon stretch. I then have to get in my black car with a busted air con which is much like getting inside an oven to drive home where the house is roasting hot too. Thats when a cold shower feels amazing and then I just sit in the garden until bedtime and it’s magic.
  9. What a wonderful day. im hoping we can squeeze one more hot day out on Friday so I can have a bbq and some booze after work.
  10. Warm one this morning! Looks like it’s going to be a struggle in the office this week - absolutely not complaining though. last night wasn’t too bad (and my bedroom is a loft conversion so it’s the hottest and coldest room all year round). just sleep naked under a thin sheet with a fan on. Easy.
  11. So looks like it’s going to throw it down all afternoon and evening. Good stuff
  12. The cell also briefly formed a fairly suspicious looking wall cloud before it dropped the funnel
  13. Too far away and at a crappy angle to get any beautiful shots but 100 percent a funnel. The end was moving up and down like a snake.
  14. Storm passing north of Andover just dropped a really quite decent funnel. Pics shortly.
  15. Caught these two absolute units on the office wall today. Biggest I’ve ever seen in the U.K.
  16. 2/10 here. Had a warm spell at the start of June and that's it.
  17. certainly feels like it with the way the weather has been
  18. I'm praying sunday isnt a total write-off. Watching the game outdoors Wednesday evening down the local was chilly enough. The pub brought out blankets at half time! As for this morning, the 300th grey, overcast morning this year.
  19. So i'm not wrong then - this could be one of the worst summers in recent memory?
  20. Oh I remember it alright, it was abysmal. Doesn't mean this spring/summer hasn't also been abysmal. It's been so horrendously cloudy for days and days on end - I'm back on the vitamin D tabs - something I wanted to stay off until the end of september. Edit: To add to the above. ZERO convective weather whatsoever in my neck of the woods. In isolation, this summer so far may have been acceptable (though extremely disappointing) had the spring not been an absolute abomination.
  21. most abysmal spring I can ever remember followed up by one of the most abysmal summers I can ever recall. Lovely stuff.
  22. I don't work in the office 24/7 - I would make the most of it outside of my working hours:) plus it beats freezing to death in the office like i do over the winter.
  23. 2021 has been utterly repulsive in every possible way.
  24. A selection of people are pro-warmth at the moment because it’s summer. The vast majority of people on here are pro-cold in the winter but for some reason that seems to be ok? (It is ok by the way, I’m just highlighting the fact that the same names pop up every year moaning at the people who like warmth in summer).
