  1. One for me! Im planning on walking the dog this afternoon in the hopes of seeing some convection at least (if the showers don’t merge into a messy clump of crap) and I will be wearing a heavy winter coat and bobble hat - which I haven’t really been able to stop wearing since like last October.
  2. True - but as I’ve said before, for me personally, my favourite time of the year is April, May and early June because in basically every year I can remember we’ve had some nice weather in that period and the shackles of winter feel released. Psychologically I feel optimistic because the daylight is still increasing and it’s wonderful to sit outside and smell/watch the sweet foliage come to life. Not a single day this year (bar ONE in March) and doesn’t look like there will be another before the nights start drawing in. I just ventured outside before bed and timed it perfectly with a torrential downpour which could’ve genuinely been 6pm on a November Tuesday evening. It’s bleak.
  3. Wow well that’s it then. Guess I’ll be going on the antidepressants this year and trying to knuckle down until next March. Just 10 more months to go.
  4. I know Mother Nature doesn’t owe us anything but the country absolutely deserves a nice warm spell for people to reunite with their families and friends. Even I’m desperate for a beer garden now.
  5. Just pure, unrelenting dreadfulness. I planned to stop taking Vitamin D supplements in March but here we are in May, wrapped up against the never ending cold, volcanic winter without even a hint of colour to my ghostly white skin.
  6. can confirm. Autumn arrived a couple weeks ago here.
  7. The difference between an Arsenal fan and a Spurs fan extends into the weather domain!
  8. Sadly for me my favourite 2 months of the year have basically gone down the toilet. Can’t believe we are only 6 weeks from the solstice and I’m still wearing my heavy winter coat and a bobble hat.
  9. Completely agree, except here its no fine days and no thunderstorms.
  10. Some great vids and pics here from you guys around the country! Imagine how much more exciting following storms would be if they actually made Doppler accessible to the public! please can we actually have some interesting weather in the south now that isn’t boring gales.
  11. summer is going to have to pull off something extraordinary to salvage the "warm and light" part of the year for me which runs from March-September.
  12. I mean we had a very dry April and quite a bit of sunshine but there was a constant absolutely Baltic frigid hurricane force northerly/easterly wind at all times.
  13. It’s May 9th and we’ve had one nice day this spring back in March. Ive never ever seen anything like it.
  14. Wild night last night - thought we were going to lose the tree in the garden at one point.
  15. I made the classic ‘that’s our summer then’ joke after the couple of warm days in March. Getting a bit nervous now.
  16. August last year wasn’t too bad was it? I remember driving to the river with my dog and my car was an actual furnace and I also got some of my only storms of the summer.
  17. Nah, ask Mapantz who has to constantly tell people in here to stop guilt tripping eachother. Maybe ‘revel in others misery’ is a little hyperbolic but there are certainly a number of posters who seem to make a habit of posting remarkably upbeat posts when the weather is crap with impeccable timing and then they always follow it up with ‘I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND HOW ANYONE CAN LIKE HEAT’ honestly, every single year. It’s baiting, pure and simple.
  18. Anecdotally, I’m still wearing thick woollen slippers around the house and my thermals to bed. That would normally stop around the end of March latest. I’m still wearing a thick winter parka and bobble hat to walk the dog. The odd cold ‘winter feeling’ couple of days here and there wouldn’t be unusual but to have this relentless dreck absolutely is.
  19. Happens every year mate - though this year they are absolutely revelling in it. There’s a small group on here who enjoy the misery of others. It’s super weird because it’s just a weather forum. I agree that when you are stood in the direct sunlight, you can indeed feel the strength of the sun, but in the shade and the blustery wind it genuinely does feel like mid winter. It’s been the worst spring I’ve ever seen. Ever. Sure, it’s been dry until now but it has been constantly freezing.
  20. Fingers crossed a big flip. If I was saying temps of 10-11 are perfect as we headed into November, I would be hung, drawn and quartered on here - and quite rightly so.
  21. I'm only going off memory and not statistical data or anything, but I don't recall everything looking so bare this late into the season, ever! If I didn't know what time of year it was and had to hazard a guess by looking at the foliage, I would guess early-mid March. I smoke (I know, disgusting habit and hoping to quit soon) and I will have a cigarette in the garden every night before bed while I read the forum or do other things on my phone. I haven't been able to do it yet this year without several layers, my dressing gown and a hot water bottle shoved up my jumper. Absolutely unreal for this stage of the year - AND there's no hope on the horizon. On saturday I had a few friends over and we played some cards in the garden with some drinks - as soon as the sun began to set around 8pm, we had to move inside because the hurricane force easterly was absolutely frigid. It's so weird that even an evening temperature of like 8 degrees would feel positively balmy right now. I honestly don't remember anything like it and it's thoroughly depressing.
  22. You guys are right. At least it does feel pleasant in the sun, out of the wind, out of the shade, in fifteen layers, extremities covered, sheltered by buildings, next to a fire.
