    Yeah i'm too far south for anything today according to Arome.

    Cool and overcast here. Feels like a proper calm autumn/winter day any period between October-March.

    That’s got to be the biggest bust of the season surely? I know we weren’t expecting anything particularly severe but no showers? Nothing at all? It’s been a cool, dank feeling October day here - temps never got anywhere near the projected mid 20 high.

    I think it was more to do with a complete lack of shear in the environment to aid storm organisation and longevity. As you can see from my photo of the "Basingstoke cell" - it was largely outflow dominant with an arching gust-front which blew itself out and collapsed not long after.

    Lightning is very sparse and extremely high up. No thunder audible to me.

    Looks like a degree of backbuilding on the radar so probably more to come - though the sky is just a grey mess now so won’t be able to make out any structure. Will not be complaining though! Probably the rumbliest storm I’ve heard in a decade.

    The Andover storm drought is over. Wouldn’t be surprised to hear of some funnel reports from this.

    There’s some kind of ground hugging rotation on its southern leading edge. Looks amazing but camera won’t quite do it distance from this far out.

    Looks like the real heavy bit might skirt slightly to the south. Not seen a single flash of lightning so it must be extremely high up.

    Ok yep this is going to hit me head on and it is CONSTANT thunder. Not heard anything like this for a long time. No pauses whatsoever.

    Looking at the cloud motion above me (painfully slow) and assuming this doesn’t fall apart, the Andover storm shield will go in the next hour.

    It’s just a constant low grumble. This better not fall apart as it moves slowly west.

    Something incoming from the east. Can hear constant grumbling from that direction now.

    Something developing between Godalming and Haselmere. This is it. THIS IS THE ONE.

    Winchester storm dying out on radar. All eyes on the Dorking cell which will head just north of here on its current trajectory.

    Just heard a distant clap of thunder from the Winchester cell. Seems almost stationary.

    I'm hoping Arome is right for later and i see something around 8-9pm - after that, looks like a bigger storm for the Oxford area.

    I guess I pin my hopes on the cell east of Dorking maintaining intensity and growing into an absolute unit. Look how stretched that Winchester cell is.
