  1. The cell over Guildford way will probably be the closest I get.
  2. 2018 was the legit worst i've seen down here. One evening plume in April and then absolutely nothing at all until July the following year. This year we did have a weak storm over kingsclere/newbury way back in June I got out and chased, but that's it.
  3. If I were a gambling man (I'm not) I would predict it looking something like this - with storm motion tracking North/North west. So really, very similar to yesterday and the day before, though maybe an outside shot at the south/south east getting something wafting up the channel.
  4. the first half of last night was the hottest night I can ever recall for trying to sleep. I dozed off at some point and woke to a slightly cooler room, but holy moly, It was like sleeping in a bowl of hot soup. Dog was panting so had to remove her and put her down in the kitchen where its cooler and woke up to find the missus had also vacated to the couch in the middle of the night. Horrendous.
  5. Yeah that was an absolute banger and conversely the only storm I've seen in my location over the past 2.5 years.
  6. Yes the north east looks dire - no heat and no storms. At least we got the heat down here, but my goodness me I could do with some cooling rain about now.
  7. Yikes - Midlands north again it is then. This must be one of the best convective seasons of all time up that way and into the North West!
  8. Is that claggy mess over northern France due to drift over here tonight? Little worrying for our chances down here tomorrow if so.
  9. I’m going to have to I think. Tempted to wear a dress.
  10. Goofus shows storms popping and pushing north through my locale tomorrow from mid afternoon. It must be drunk because we don’t do that here. Im in the office tomorrow with no air conditioning and not allowed to wear shorts so it is going to be an ordeal - what I would give for a downpour to greet me at 4pm hometime.
  11. Yes, as much as I clamour for heat, tonight will be disgusting. My bedroom is in the loft so it is an absolute furnace in there. I’m sat outside delaying the inevitable.
  12. This is the hottest it’s felt so far. Sweating absolute buckets just eating my dinner. I was lucky enough to have the day off today so just sat in my actual pants playing Xbox and peeling myself from my chair every ten minutes. Back to the sweatbox office tomorrow. Yay.
  13. Played around with Bristolstormchaser’s photo from twitter on my phone. That thing is an absolute specimen.
  14. I’m gonna have to move to Manchester or something. I must surely live in one of the most stormless parts of the country post 2007.
  15. Some wonderfully warm evenings here and some genuinely hot days have somewhat pulled this summer up from being abysmal to meh. The absolute lack of storms though has made the period April 2018 until now the most boring spell of weather I can recall. Convection just doesn’t happen in my location anymore. Something happened in April 2018 which disabled convection of any sort occurring within northern Hampshire. A similar thing happened between 2007-2013 but at least in that period you might see the odd CB/shower cloud at least with a bit of structure, even if you didn’t get much thunder. For the last two years it’s been either slate grey sky, fair weather cumulus, or unbroken sunshine. It’s very strange - even showers/storms that are rooted above the boundary layer and so not affected by the cooler channel when crossing from Northern France seem to just randomly fizzle out when reaching the Hampshire coast. I wouldn’t be remotely surprised if this record breaking heat goes out with nothing but a bit of drizzle and I don’t see or hear a single flash or bang.
  16. Absolutely beautiful evening here in Andover. 23 degrees with a very light breeze which gives you a nice cooling cuddle every few seconds. Wonderful.
  17. I'm in the office and it is warm. Going to be disgusting come 3pm.
  18. Careful with zopiclone. I was prescribed it after the death of my sister and 7 years later following a chronic addiction where I was popping 5 x 7.5mg tablets a night and a visit to rehab, I’ve now been clear of them for about 5 years:) Obviously they’re a godsend for insomnia/anxiety and as long as you don’t have an addictive personality and some willpower/discipline, you’ll be fine - my mum has been on the lower 3.75mg dose for 10 years or something now without ever increasing her dose or forming a habit - just be careful:)
  19. Yes I will have to say something to my boss along the lines of ‘the extreme heat in here due to poor ventilation and no air conditioning is making me feel extremely unwell, so unless I’m allowed to remove clothing/wear shorts, I’ll go home sick instead’ and let them make the call. its a dumb rule anyway - I would understand if I was customer facing, but I work in a warehouse/office so I don’t get it.
  20. I’m back to work full time this week and of course summer looks to arrive proper. I know I clamour for warm weather but those predicted temps in a tin box office with no air con and a boss who won’t let you wear shorts under ANY circumstances even though I’m not customer facing is going to be grotesque.
