  5. Storm chasing aircraft this year then ! That'll cut down on the chaser traffic https://secure.nssl.noaa.gov/briefings/2012/05/scientists-launch-study-of-thunderstorm-impacts-on-upper-atmosphere/ Craig
  6. Hi Rob, good call mate u won't regret it, prob see u change over day at the end of your tour, have a great time Craig

  8. Great stuff Paul, really enjoyed following the chase last night, chasertv was a tad busy but the stream was excellent, safe journey home to you and Arron, not too long to wait until you're back out there ! Craig
  9. Cool, this will be fun ! Heres mine, Taken early in the morning just east of Joplin on the 7th May, and from Arizona, taken overlooking Tucson Craig
  10. MD issued : http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md0235.html
  11. At around 400 notes I don't have enough blood or money atm, might be worth a look if the prices on the 2nd hand market drop in the future tho, like u say, would be interesting to try it out Craig
  12. Cheers Dave, already dslr'd up on team canon :winky: was thinking maybe more for daytime shots as triggers seem a bit hit and miss and my screen shots from vids in Arizona were not of the greatest quality, just wondered if i had stumbled upon an unintentional chasers must-have, maybe a bit pricey for specialist use tho, interesting none the less Craig
  13. Any camera experts out there? Saw an advert on tv for the Nikon 1 and started looking into it, it boasts Smart Photo Selector: always gets the best shot. Shoots 20 high-resolution images before and after you release the shutter. Is this therefore the best camera for lightning ever ? Craig
  14. Hi Crash, see post #129 mate, ian c has worked it all out for ya Craig
  15. So flights booked, esta completed, best western for the first night sorted and travel insurance in the bag, just need to settle up for the trip and have a few jars in Oxford ...............I'm off to pack Craig
  16. As much as I like the new free precip radar, is it possible to get the locations/place names to stay visible under the heavier stuff? I don't know where I am anymore !! Craig
  17. Not entirely sure, but I just took basic holiday insurance with me last year, should be enough, though I believe an upgrade to a years cover with walkabout isn't too much more Craig
  18. No confirmation of the cancellation yet, the site I saw yesterday claimed 100 % it had been axed, but today have backtracked somewhat ! Could be the site generating some traffic for itself, although a more general feeling is that it may well be over, many people awaiting word from discovery who remain tight-lipped along with others associated with the show, watch this space I guess ? Craig.
  19. Hi Lewis, I left it until a few weeks before the trip and ended up paying £845 stopping in Dallas with AA, stung abit tbh :o Craig.
  20. Excellent, will be great to chase with Arron and Nick for the first time, will miss Ian C's MD broadcasts though, flights booked yesterday, please hurry up May 30th !!!!!!
  21. Hi all, not sure where to post this but it may be of interest, very detailed pdf from NOAA on the April 2011 tornado outbreak http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/assessments/pdfs/historic_tornadoes.pdf Craig
  22. Hi Lewis, personal choice I guess, I go with a polarizing filter myself, never tried the nd route but I imagine the results could be great, could give you more to think about and I like to keep it as close to point and shoot as possible as there is a lot going on sometimes (hopefully ) and I just take a 4 way extension with the us two pin plug convertor on the end, seems to do the trick Craig
