  1. Nice one Paul, meet you at the airport then, will prob travel down in the early morning and get some kip on the plane to dfw
  2. I booked and paid for the tickets we were talking about last night, would have been good to all be together on the flights, but I want to be back on the sunday to have the monday to recover from the flight, work on tuesday
  3. For what its worth, this is anything but a closed shop, for a new guest this is an excellent chance to meet up with people that have been there and done it, I personally credit Paul S's meet up bbq as the reason I went in 2010,as I was quite nervous about it all and you are made to feel most welcome. Regret that I can't attend this one, 2009 and 2010 were great events and I would recommed it to any storm enthusiast, booked up on a tour or not, you'll have a good laugh and the enthusiasm is infectious have a great time everyone
  4. Go here : https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ fill in your details in the lower right hand side and it will take you to an update option page and bobs your uncle
  5. My wallet applauds your sage decision and instructs me to do the same, that flight cut into my budget quite a bit !!
  6. Right, flights sorted, esta updated, now wondering about insurance, u guys gonna go the "go walkabout" way, or take out regular cover? I'm leaning toward regular tbh, not expecting it too be too hazardous?
  7. Booked, flight 51 from hrow to dfw, 1607 to phoenix, 1428 to dfw, 78 back home, phew !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Last min site not working for me tbh, just keep getting updating results page , frustrating ! will keep trying
  9. last min site isnt really playing the game at the mo, keep getting "updating results" and nothing else, also cheapest ba option in the list on the left was saying 898?
  10. Well if thats the one then lets go for it, I'm not sure where detroit came into it tho, flights i was looking at on kayak went thru charlotte nc? Anyone got a direct link to that price/flight on BA, to make sure we are all looking at the same thing? Ah, see above thanks Mr fisherman !
  11. Well if I had to book right now I would go with the kayak option out of gatwick, BA does appeal but you are talking about £80 difference, and I've got to buy my shemagh scarf for the desert yet ! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SHEMAGH-Scarf-Arab-SAS-Army-Desert-Sand-black-/400136411506?pt=Men_s_Accessories_UK&hash=item5d29fd1972
  12. Well, hrw is preferable to me but getting into phoenix that bit earlier is more important so I'm up for the gatwick option, would have to look and see if going out a day early changes the prices much (for better or worse) and factor in the extra night in the hotel as well
  13. Hi guys, still looking around for various flights, wondered if this flight might do it, not the cheapest but has the least amount of travel time I've found so far http://www.kayak.co.uk/flights/LON-PHX/2011-08-16/2011-08-27/f564dc6a82313caabbbf8a537e348f1bc personally prefer the heathrow departure as well, returns to gatwick tho, and comes in at £776, what d'ya reckon?
  14. yep the norm is the best western in Irving, 4110 w airport freeway , this year just hit the walmart next door for a few beers n chilled out in the room. As far as the flying is concerned, personally not a huge fan, I find not a lot of sleep the night before the flight helps, and I manage to sleep the majority of the journey
  15. Hi Lewis, think the chase days will be 1st to the 10th with the 11th being "changeover day" aka "damn it, we have to go home day" so def book the flights for the 11th
  16. Been seeking some advice from my mates sister (travel agent), cheapest flights she could find is the same one Mr S has found £752 with a stop, she advised waiting for a last min deal. Not sure I want to leave it to the last min, but I thought I'd share what she said with you guys anyway, that £818 direct is tempting, but WOW this is silly money
  17. Oooooooooooooh! It's getting closer Thanks for all the updates regarding the flights, keep looking around meself but have no joy
  18. Ha! we'll get so much practice we'll all be expert lightning photographers by the time we get back
  19. Great read Paul, do you write this down daily out there and update when you get home or is this all from memory? Chuffed to see one of my photos on there btw, means i'm doing something right
  20. Metoo, wonder if I can get off work early..............
  21. Hiya Tom, we leave for the Arizona on Aug 16th, so plenty of time, that weekend works for me, looking forward to meeting up with everyone again Craig
  22. Yeah the dew points have been struggling, but are showing signs of improvement, Two months today !
  23. Just need to echo the sentiment of thanks to the Netweather staff, and to my fellow guests on tour 1. To be fair it wasn't a very active tour weather wise, but i still came home eagerly anticipating 2012, and my next visit to the plains. Job well done
