Model Output Discussion - Into February
fromey replied to damianslaw's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
GFS rolls out the ultimate fantasy charts but until the the ECM, UKMO come around for me it’s just pure fantasy! Some on here touting the GFS picking up the 40c last summer, wasn’t that the old version of the GFS, I can’t remember, no doubt someone will correct me. -

It says there’s uncertainty over the milder air from the North west. Watch this space I suppose. -

The chart is from 5 years ago and to me is pretty uninspiring. We no what happened just over 4 weeks later. now I’m not say there will be a SSW,I’m not getting into that argument but with the warming that is happening I would take any FI charts with a very large dose of salt, they may look flat and not conducive to cold but expect the unexpected. -
The warming getting going on the 10hpa, but still below the average and the 30hpa warming slowly but still well below the average. Original post: https://community.netweather.tv/topic/98196-model-output-discussion-new-year-and-beyond/?do=findComment&comment=4793990

With the GFS being bottom of the pack in the 5-10 day range I wouldn’t put a lot of faith in it at the moment. im sticking with the ECM/ Met. -
