  1. hello from a chilly donny The max of only 9.3C made it the coldest day here since 27th March this year. Currently on a cloudy but so far dry morning its just 7.0C jh
  2. hello well it really is 'sunny donny', got up 20.0C, which makes it the warmest day here since 21st September 2003 with 21.8C jh
  3. hello Max been up to 18.3C, joint max with last previous same temp on 3rd October 2003. Now down to 15.9C with mostly cloudy skies after a glorious morning starting without a cloud in the sky and no wind. Perfect for golf, shame about what happened! jh
  4. Hi well it wassunny donny this morning. Frost on he cars before 11pm last night with a min this morning of -0.9C. Lovely morning in the garden, then it clouded over, and is cloudy now. Got a max of 15.7C jh
  5. Hi I thought a new post for this information. If the mods do not think so pse put where you think most appropriate. March Mean temp here was/is 7.0C, compared to 7.4C in 2003 and 2002, 5.1C in 2001 and 8.3C in 2000. Nothing remarkable there. days with rain16(13); snow 2&0(5&1)=days with snow and lying snow. air frost 3( and ground11(14), with 1 day with fog(3) and nil with thunder(0+) figures in brackets are long term averages. jh
  6. hi may i ask when posting current weather info, if there is no indication in your address on the left hand side of the screen, it would be very helpful if you gave your location. also if you are reporting from somewhere other than your usual location. here in doncaster its 12C, breezy and mostly cloudy but dry, after a few 'spits in the wind' late this morning. jh
  7. hi cottesmore is about 15 miles south of Grantham, just off the A1. In fact if you are travelling south you can see the airfield from the a1. or if travelling north, this time it will be on your left! or about 10 miles east south east of melton mowbray. hope that helps jh
  8. hi again further to my comment about raf cottesmore rainfall being very doubtful; look at the observations around it, none reported more than 2mm in the 12 hours ending 1800z(gmt) today. the wx online site which originally quoted it does seem liable to big errors at times with no apparent check made on some entries. jh
  9. hi that 100mm at raf cottesmore has to be wrong. no one else in the uk, even the sw has even half of that total. jh
  10. hi again further to post at 09.23 try this site http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ a bit too far south for many of the low countries and north germany but gives the flavour for what is on the way for se england. the bbc infra red met office satellite shows the cloud on http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ukweather/sat.shtml jh
  11. hi not an actual snow report but what may occur, so pse keep this in this area moderators. anyone who understands plotted weather charts, look at this http://meteocentre.com/analyse/map.php?hou...g=en&map=Europe it show a large area of snow over nearby europe. the upper winds are a bit far back(by which I mean a shade to much north in them rather than south), they are mainly ene'ly over the continent and southern uk, BUT it might mean that parts of e anglia and areas sw of that MIGHT get some of this during this afternoon. happy snow hunting jh
  12. hi ds where you get that culdrose snow depth report from? the max snow depth i can find(1100) is aviemore and aberdeen. mind you the culdrose rainfall amount is quoted as 31mm in 6 hours from 0600. jh
  13. hi just for a change, some temperature info, well seeing as there is no snow here. mean temp over the last 6 days is 2.2C, more like mid january, feb mean, so far= 4.5C, and the long term average around here is 3.7C. above avge february's are much more the norm in the past few years; 2003=3.9C; 2002=7.2C; 2001=4.4C; 2000=7.1C; 1999=6.1C; 1998=8.8C; 1997=7.2C like Oscar Wilde was once quoted as saying; 'lies, dman lies and statistics'. jh
  14. hi bit of a let down, barely 1cm overnight, min temp -0.8C, reading -0.6C with sun out but a lot of cloud to the east and a moderate n'ly breeze. jh
  15. hi about 1cm here with temp -0.7C, shower clouds to east but sun out jh
  16. hi mostly sunny today, max 3.3C, 3rd lowest this winter. in the past hour some shower clouds visible to west and east, to the east one good cumulonimbus but just cumulus to west. temp now 1.8C and falling. jh
  17. hi clear blue sky with temp zero at 0915 and a light covering of snow on the ground after the soft hail and snow showers late yesterday evening. min temp of ms 2.8C jh
  18. hi take heart its snowing here, if it snows in doncaster it can snow anywhere! temp now 0.0C with snow for past 40 mins after series of soft hail showers. see the met office radar chart for 2200, front page of net-weather, so maybe still another 20-30mins, with ground just about covered. jh
  19. hi tks ukb nw of doncaster just a few flakes here but you never know, temp 1.0C jh
  20. hi update to doncaster at 1625 to tws, toher side pennines. would agree there has been no cloud break since the front(t)'s went thro here, occasional rain with temp slowly drifting down to 2.7C by 1600. we then had a more significant burst of rain(see met radar at 1500(on front of net weather) which brought the temp down to 2.3C at which the rain turned to wet snow, lasted about 10 mins with temp now 1.5C and still a few wet flakes coming down. no sign of any cloud breaks yet. freezing level at 1200gmt from upper air station somewhere near the scottish border was abou 1,500 feet, with about 20knots(22-24mph) from the north west at 5,000feet. It showed thick cloud to about 7,000 feet with thinner layers above it. if it snow in doncaster it can snow anywhere jh
  21. hi update on previous wx report; temp fell to 3.9C by 1300, still with slight rain, now down to 3.6C again with slight rain. so a temp drop of 2.8C which should give those south of here some idea of the temp drop to expect. jh
  22. Hi sorry about wrimg post time, one day i'll learn 1150 am in doncaster, sth yorks, all of 30 ft above sea level; if it snows here it snow everwhere! temp down from 6.7C to 5.1C with a sharp burst of rain along with a wind veer from wsw to wnw. probably the first cold front shown on most actual weather charts this morning see below for frontal system this morning. http://www.freedata.meteorologica.co.uk/Fr...ages/fronts.jpg jh _________________
