  1. Met has heaviest precip after 12 on Monday for here With a dry slot between 3 and 9 lmfao, I can tell this is going to be a 'see what happens on the day'
  2. Sleeting here again, had quite a few showers this morning of a wintry nature
  3. Brilliant easterly flow in place on Wednesday Now that would give some convection! Uppers sub -8 and pressure 1010ish
  4. I always miss the good GFS runs, as if Monday's front wasn't good enough it's decent to chuck another one our way for Tuesday! I always think we end up getting the most in England 9 times out of 10, as we're liable to fronts from the west and showers and troughs from the east!
  5. Next warning already out for Monday North East England Snow Issued at:1243 on Fri 11 Jan 2013 Valid from:0005 on Mon 14 Jan 2013 Valid to:2359 on Mon 14 Jan 2013 An area of rain, sleet and hill snow spreading into northwestern Scotland by early Monday is expected to turn increasingly to snow to low levels as it moves southeastwards through the day. Some significant accumulations of around 5 cm of snow are likely over low ground with perhaps 10 cm or more over higher ground. Icy surfaces will be an additional hazard, particularly during Monday morning. The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to travel. So we have potential accumulating snow over Saturday night into Sunday, and then the frontal event Monday. First cold snap is looking good!
  6. They have the front marked on their FAX chart too, so if it isn't dropped within the next day or so I should think they would have to warn the public yes
  7. Interesting front being modelled on the GFS again for Monday, this time it sticks around for a good few hours for most of the region, could give quite the dumping!
  8. Well if it went down ECM Avenue we might not get the frontal snow the south would get, but there'd be a hell of a lot of convection off the north sea I would imagine
  9. North East England Snow Issued at:1205 on Thu 10 Jan 2013 Valid from:1800 on Sat 12 Jan 2013 Valid to:1200 on Sun 13 Jan 2013 Turning colder this weekend with snow showers likely to affect eastern coastal counties. Amounts of snow are uncertain and are likely to be highly variable with some places seeing very little. However, 5-10 cm could accumulate locally, particularly over hills, with icy surfaces an additional hazard. The public should be aware of the potential for localised disruption to travel. Weather warning for eastern coastal counties out Saturday and Sunday http://www.metoffice...-1.44&lat=54.63
  10. Another day another drama in the models, at least we can say its going to snow in 'the far north' this weekend, what comes after is still questionable, viewing the 12Z gfs ensembles (cba to wait until midnight for the 18's), a majority bunch of ensembles stay cold. On this occasion i think the GFS op will fall into line with its ensembles (surely?)
  11. ECM looking good for our region this morning with snow feasible on every frame starting this Saturday, GFS is following what some of it's ensembles were showing last night, but if anything this morning the 0Z ensembles are trending cooler. UKMO still looks pretty decent too.
  12. First wave of cold for this weekend looks nailed when viewing the ensembles, what comes after is looking absolutely epic at the moment. Uhoh i'm getting that excitement again... Please don't let today be a cruel joke!
  13. Well according to the latest GFS we could see a band of snow moving down from the north on Sunday, but that could easily disappear on the next run. All the major models have decent cold in place on Sunday though so I think that'll be the one to watch. At least today is the last of the mild dull weather, be nice to get a bit sunshine tomorrow
  14. Haven't posted in ages! Hope you's have all had a good Xmas. New Years day is looking sunny and chilly can't complain, thereafter we have some settled but mild weather, which is a relief, don't think I could handle any more rain. Its funny actually normally we would be raging about a Euro high but we need the dry weather. Have been taking a little break from model output but will be popping over to the model thread more often and in particular the stratosphere thread to see how this potential SSW will pan out, could be interesting!
  15. Looks like a bleak wet run of days coming up for us, going to be spending minimal time looking out the window and getting wet on by the rain to keep up the Christmas spirit! The weather just past Christmas looks undecided and could throw up a surprise or two from the north
  16. I think the whole car needs dryed out with a hairdryer or something, water has been leaking through the sunroof for weeks now after the seal i put on eventually failed. Renault Clio problems...
  17. Mmhm 100% humidity, the most extreme symptom we can find in this spell of ordinary weather. Every time I got in the car today the screen was misted, had to pull over at one point as it wouldn't de-mist quick enough and I was blind practically Or that could just be my terrible damp car...
  18. Haha good one from the Met Office; Met Office â€@metoffice An update on the weather for this week: How the ‘pest from the west’ will beat the ‘Beast from the East’ http://bit.ly/U9Zavf Pest from the West, I like it!
  19. At least its there though, can't be too difficult to tap into that cold at some point before the end of the month - shortwave depending of course as always
  20. He posted another GFS chart the other day with snow accumulations over the UK for this week, although i doubt he'll be bothered we narrowly missed out on this weeks beasterly cos the rest of Europe, excluding the UK, Western France and Spain are in the freezer still, and UK is still below average.
  21. My disposable camera from Boots had ran out of film
  22. Lmfao. How do you know I don't already look like that ? Yeah i've had my hail fix now hahaha
  23. Was actually a brilliant view of an impending shower when I was on the metro to uni this morning, looking north(ish) from Gateshead from the track where you can see for miles, wish i'd took a photo but i'd have felt like an 'idiot' (or worse) if i was taking a photo from a crowded metro of people looking at me hahah. Nah it definitely wasn't hail here it wasn't loud enough, and i checked the ground and there definitely wasn't any hail lying about here LOL very weird Edit: Ok it's definitely hailing now!
  24. I'd say it was melted hail or sleet on further inspection haha, definitely a wintry flavour to it
