  1. Changed my car recently and it has a handbrake, last one had a stupid electronic one, just not the same.
  2. Heavy shower after 2100 with sleet and wet snow and a frozen slush on the decking. Currently in another shower of wet snow, but looks like the last for a while. Very icy out there.
  3. Topplers may be a waste for you, but they can be fantastic here. Bring it on. Also looking to get my life back now after some painful model watching. Not looking good for the beast, so will be looking to the North west for some pressure rises.
  4. Some heavy showers around this evening, coming out of York after 6 to the east side with sleet and very wet snow. Very icy coming down the hill into the village.
  5. Weather station on top the hill here is reporting sleet.
  6. Not going to get up, yet, but still pretty wet out there and the station on top the hill is now reporting 0.7c, so has dropped 1.2c since its max sometime after midnight. Interesting. Just looked out the window and no real signs of sleetiness but still a snow cover about 80/90%, but looking a bit thin now. Just checked and the station is now at 0.5 and reporting snowfall, very interesting. It's about 90m higher than here.
  7. 8.9mm rain recorded, though all sleet after the wet snow initially, but we still have an almost full snow cover. Will be interesting to see what happens later in the night and if it survives.
  8. Just back from a few hours in Driffield. Wet snow when I left and heavy rain in Driffield, but coming back it's just about still wet snow on the highest part of the road at 122m, so not much more elevation will have snow. Sleet in the village at 70m, temp 1.4 now and 4.8mm from this so far. Make that 5.1mm. Just noticed that the temp had gone up to 1.5 and now back to 1.3. Could be interesting if that continues.
  9. Interesting. Didn't the BBC graphics show a gap in the precipitation yesterday evening, with it then reforming in the east as it appears to be at the moment?
  10. So is that East Ayton you're at, almost looking towards Staxton? 0.7 here now, DP -2. Light patch of blue over us on the radar, but just an odd flake in the wind. Mmmm flake, the crumbliest, flakiest type of snow.
  11. Still below freezing here, -0.4 with a nithering breeze.
  12. Min last night -6.0. Took a while for it to fall with light snow flurries until midnight and a breeze. A few miles inland in a frost hollow, they recorded -9.3, see http://www.dugglenet.org/
  13. Just got back from York. No snow until a few miles from the Wolds and the road from Garrowby to Fridaythorpe is really treacherous and very slow because of sheet ice. Further east you get the thicker the snow and a good 6cm here, so very happy, apart from nearly losing it on the drive!
  14. Still snowing at home looking at the webcam, but hard to make out how much as the lens is covered!
  15. Now in York, bone dry! Heavy snow shower when I left home, which only moved a couple of miles inland from us. Check out the webcam under the weather trends tab at http://www.eastyorkshire.co.uk/eddsfield/ and you can see less snow on the horizon towards the west. Light dusting across the Wolds from yesterday evenings showers and the North York Moors look good, quite thick on the higher parts.
  16. A light dusting here. We're due south of Scarborough, but there's a slight Westerly element in their direction, so frustratingly they're passing a mile or two to the east with just an odd flurry here.
  17. Been in London today and got back to Doncaster station around 8.30. Uneventful drive until reaching the Wolds at Market Weighton where the road had just been heavily salted. Snow shower on top of the Wolds and another running into Driffield, then back onto the hills heading North on the Scarborough road into slush on the road all the way down into the village and we have a very wet slushy cover here, the third this month, though only one official cover. Shower just approaching us now, so I'll just have a quick lamp post check. Light snow, but this shower hasn't got much oomph. Lot's of dripping outside so unless we get some more can't see this hanging on til morning, but not a breath of wind so any showers might linger. Currently 0.5c.
  18. Interesting journey across the Wolds this morning. Decent cover above the village on the tops, see http://www.eastyorkshire.co.uk/eddsfield/ for a webcam view. Thick fog on the tops but the snow got thinner the further West I went, with very little at Fridaythorpe anf I was expecting a decent cover on Garrowby hill at 240m, but they had the same as we did 170 m lower. Definitely a further east you went event.
  19. What an idiot I am!!!!! Just looked out the window and there's a light snow cover. Totally surprised about that as at 0230 just very wet sleety stuff. Just checked the temp and currently 0.3, max overnight 0.4, so why wasn't it all snow and why did it change back to snow? Not much of a snowfall, but hey!
  20. Was some light snow initially, but soon turned to rain, then back to sleet and wet snow at times around 0230. Suspect there will be some patches on the higher Wolds roads on the way to work.
  21. Hardly, had a few snow showers here today, heavy one this morning, but nearer the coast would have been more sleety I would have thought. Personally, I hate missing out on anything.
  22. We were literally right on the edge. Quite frustrating watching all those bright colours filtering down a couple of miles east and just catching the odd flurry or hail shower.
  23. I think you'll find initially that the lower ground would have had the lowest temps, nothing unusual there. I think that the fact you had snow, as did I, was more due to being further East which hung on to cooler air and also the heaviest of the precipitation was this side as well. Once the air got mixed around a bit, then it turned back to snow, but there was certainly snow cover on the Wolds as well. Shower just coming in now!
