  1. Full heavy but wet snow...really big flakes. Settled on cars and pavements already and slushy on road in Shirecliffe north Sheffield at 150m
  2. We have possibly escaped but could you imagine the pain if this was a band of snow that was forecast to be right on top of us - nailed - only to move north by such a wide margin! Thank goodness it was just plain old rain!
  3. I agree, I’ve just driven Sheffield covering varied altitudes and whilst it is deeper at altitude, I’m surprised at the amount of snow in places like Attercliffe that is virtually sea level!
  4. Surely the iPhone weather app is wrong when it suggests places like Bradford, Leeds and Harrogate have got rain now??
  5. Still quite moderate in north Sheffield. My daughter sent me a pic from Tapton School in the even higher southwest of the city and surprisingly the depth seems less down there than north Sheffield. It’s normally the other way around.
  6. Still quite moderate in north Sheffield. My daughter sent me a pic from Tapton School in the even higher southwest of the city and surprisingly the depth seems less down there than north Sheffield. It’s normally the other way around.
  7. Snow in Shirecliffe Sheffield. Settled on grass and cars and just noticeable slush on roads. Beginning of something big I think!
  8. How about the para run PIT? What’s your view on that? It certainly shows much more snow and indeed the GEM? I know I may be clutching at straws!
  9. 18z Para looks better though and an interesting 72hr Fax chart!
  10. The 72hr fax chart looking to have moved the front a little west - hopefully better for more widespread snow as also shown by the 18z para run. West Yorkshire northwards looks well primed and I dare to say that Harrogate may strike lucky again. Only speculation as too early to say, things have changed a few times today already! This one may be good for a Yorkshire wide event - we wish!
  11. No snow in north Sheffield falling. Not even snizzle (Shirecliffe). We can only imagine if this had stalled further south but one mans gains is another a loss. Happy for those in Harrogate and north Leeds! Models looks finely balanced in the future so surprise battleground snowfalls should be relatively commonplace. I especially feel for those in East Yorkshire - it really is difficult to get a good setup for snow there - I mean when it looks good with easterly winds - it’s now too mild with high SST. Surely that wouldn’t have happened 10-20 years ago....an east wind from Europe in Jan meant snow!?? It ain’t been great in Sheffield but we have had a about 4 mornings with snow cover.
  12. Wow, that is an amazing event for you in Harrogate and locality! Thanks for the photos....please keep them coming!
  13. Snow flurries in north Sheffield now. Dusting on all surfaces now. Not many more showers on the radar though.
  14. First post of the new season. Been a decent start especially vs last year in Sheffield....150m up in Shirecliffe. I can confirm it was recently proper sleet that was falling about 20 mins ago. Heavy thick sleet which is encouraging. ....Also Scott....thanks for your input, live your informative posts....hope you get well very soo .
  15. Covering in Shirecliffe, Sheffield, slushy on the grass and car. Missed seeing the heavy stuff falling...damn it but seems like there are plenty of showers out there.
  16. Surprisingly no cover in shirecliffe but we have had hail.
  17. Last bit of snow now melting away in Sheffield. A few patches surviving....wonder when we will next see a cover, I hope it’s not 2020!
  18. Heavy snow Shirecliffe Sheffield. All covered. Heavy dusting so far
  19. Unfortunately as others have said the ECM is not playing wit Yorkshire....we have been very unfortunate this winter. Thursdays storm looked like it had our name on it but how things have changed! Still time for corrections but I’m losing hope I’m afraid. The pic below is a projection for snowfall this Friday. Clear to see Yorkshire is like a desert amongst an oasis of snow! The N west and even the south are kicking are ass (lol)
