Lucky enough to be in Windsor at a meeting. Nice snow I believe at home in Sheffield but here it Windsor there are big thick flakes..covering all surfaces

Snow settled on cars roofs and a slushy slight coating on the grass in Shirecliffe, Sheffield. Still snow but very wet and I’m sure it’s proper sleet and rain down the hill and especially in the city centre. Later next week looks particularly exciting. East and NEly winds that go on and on...god knows what it’ll look like in Yorkshire by mid feb (deep distrusting snow )....but careful there is still a chance that Yorkshire will be lush and green! ECM not just as good tonight...a slight wobble up to 192hrs so far.

iPhone weather app suggesting it is snowing in Sheffield right now. Just had a look and it still looks like rain to me! I’m at 150m asl. Any snow elsewhere in Sheffield?

Yes, can confirm freezing rain in shirecliffe Sheffield. Bins and cars covered in ice! Pavements seem ok so far .... I think but not going to check just yet....it’s just too cold

Hi Scotland, Just popped into your thread to check the latest with the snow. We did well yesterday with 3 inches of snow but Sheffield is like Edinburgh with much higher amounts in parts of the city than others given the variability in height. Bit of a random question this one, which is the more snowier of the two cities, Glasgow or Edinburgh?? I suspect Glasgow is more exposed? Just curious, was fascinated by the red warning and it got me questioning. Sheffield 150m

I tweeted Sheffield Western Park weather station enquiring about the official depth from Beast 2 and they confirmed it was 17cm but said it was tricky to measure owing to drifting. The official figure for beast 1 was 15cm. So beast 2 wins and I think locally it didfeel like that.

Wow, just had a proper wow open the curtains moment in North Sheffield. In the back garden there looks to be a foot of snow!!! In the front there are huge drifts but other areas with a covering as the wind has wiped things up. Really looks amazing. I think we have beaten 2013, certainly beast 1 (no contest) and best after 2010!! And it’s mid March! ?

Yes, it’s awesome. Jackpot!!! i was looking at the radar just now and I must say it ties in nicely with the amber warning area. Glad we’re in it!!! Roads are bonkers here!!!

Been crazy snow in Sheffield this night! So heavy, blizzard conditions. Howling wind. Probably 3-4 inches but deeper drifts so hard to tell. Just keeps coming. This is beating beasty 1!

Good coverage in North Sheffield

Shows after heavy shower here. A thick cover developing. Probably 2 inches and drifted more in places now in North Sheffield. Some epic showers!

The radar looks great for South storks, Those north may be forgiven for thinking we are laying down inches however the reality is that the snow showers are flying through and gone within 2 minutes of starting. They are quickly replaced by brief sunshine causing melt. So in actual fact it’s not as exciting as it looks. The real fun begins when the sun lowers! Woppeee.

I’m safe to describe the latest shower as a blizzard. Couldn’t see very far with heavy snow that covered everything within 5 minutes. They look like they are lining up but I notice a slight SEly movement and not going direct east. N.Sheffield

Another moderate shower in North Sheffield. I’ve seen the temperature is below -1 but I don’t understand why the snow is melting between the showers?! The road was semi covered before it’s much less now and even some melt on the car! I’m sure it will get better with time.

My side road is covered in that blowing fine snow in wafty waves. Mess heavy earlier but calmer now before the next bout gets in.

Heavy snow North Sheffield now. Still the wet sort... but we know that will change. Car, grass and roofs covered now. Real intensification recently!! Tomorrow is exciting. Direct easterly, you can’t go wrong in Yorkshire.
