  1. Everything covered again in Shirecliffe, Sheffield. A fresh cm on the car and continues varying from light to moderate snow. Looks like one last batch on the way very soon.
  2. I doubt it. The air is rising against the hills and causing instability
  3. It’s impressive the radar is still firing even though the forecast wasn’t for it to be so active. I suspect this is the air being forced to rise against the high ground, so the eastern slopes are being pasted! Hope it continues to defy the forecast!
  4. Whilst the snow piles up on North Sheff to at least 10 inches now (visual guess), I have another problem which I suspect is cold weather related. May bathroom sink is blocked, I suspect it’s because the pipes are frozen. Mom considering pouring down hot water with a mix of salt?
  5. This is brilliant in a Sheffield. Building with speed and blowing. Wow. AND Philip Avery just mentioned about the new Amber warning covering South Yorkshire, it was exciting that he specifically mentioned Sheffield getting heavy snow showers! Bring it on. Not such a flop after all.
  6. That’s a radar image- it’s carried forward from the last radar I believe. The next scroll would be the forecast.
  7. Well what a surprise for sheffield, I almost gave up. We now have two inches in North Sheffield from only a few showers....can only imagine what a treat the north east is getting! Anyhow, prehaps no need to worry about the current gap...have a look at the met office radar that covers a wider area. Doesn’t matter if the winds will go NE or SE, there are plenty of showers brewing in the colder uppers over the North Sea.
  8. Very dissatisfied. The snow that’s is falling now is causing the earlier dusting to melt. I was under the impression that this wasn’t marginal with such low uppers.....what has gone wrong. Sheffied never fails in an easterly so maybe it will still happen.
  9. Latest EURO 4 looks great for York’s. 2 screens attached. One looking at projected snow depth for 48hrs and the other looking at accumulation of precipitation in 48hrs cumulative. Makes good reading. Look at the highest amount around Sheffield! Wopeee (sorry for being so IMBY) but overall good for many!
  10. Worth taking a look at EURO4! Snow crosses most of York’s and then you see streams of showers developing over the North Sea!
  11. On a less positive note, the ECM puts me down a little. Mir is a long way off so will hopefully change. My concern is that the winds are much more SEly which is not Hal as good for snow showers especially in the west of our region. A straight Eastley is much better. Hopefully it’s because the low pressure from the south is modelled incorrectly for now.
  12. On a positive note, have you seen the updated BBC 5 day forecast. It’s done by Mr Scaferknacker (sorry spelt wrong) and it’s the sort that we may look back on as a classic!! Here’s the link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/features/43184987
  13. ....and it continues JFF (just for fun) of course. But look we are at 210 hrs and 30-40 inches and still building. Same colour shade as the Alos and Norway across Yorks! Lol
  14. Oh my gosh!! have you seen the 18z. I mean it’s got to 186hrs and is showing this in terms of cover. Ok I get it’s not the most accurate but this is weather porn....15 inches of snow pretty much across the whole of York’s. This may be one for the history books!
  15. How cool would a red warning be!!! ? We had one over Sheffield in 2013 I think but it wasn’t as bad as forecast, they suggested potentially 60cm over eastern high ground but we still had 20cm .... which is still cool.
  16. Things are getting exceptionally exciting from Sunday onwards. For many a day it is a long fetch pretty much straight easterly. Every so often you get a wiggle in the isobars that will enhance showers and result in potentially highly disruptive snow. We've had the occasional easterly before but it’s only been a direct hit for about 24hrs before turning NEly or SEly.....this is what makes this different as it’s just goes on. In cases like this my experience suggests that Yorkshire is often in the sweet spot. My home city of Sheffield, Barnsley, Leeds and along the eastern side of high ground is often clobbered by this scenario. We may get that OmG moment when we draw the curtains in morning after morning! I’ve just done, that’s my ramp, I really held it in for ages but it’s out and I’m relieved! Now breath. Lol
  17. We are being blobified just now. Howling wind, heavy snow and settled but blowing off the ground. Love it. North Sheffield
  18. Yes....what was all that about. It was pretty much pure rain! That's a flop!
  19. Heavy snow in Shirecliffe Sheffield also. Fluffy big flakes and gusty. Sticking to cars but the sort that will melt soon.
  20. Not as hopeful as I was a few days back, that northern jet may have reduced chances. But yes will see some no doubt with such cold uppers but a lower timeframe of opportunity than was first forecast. Intrest also turns to after mid month with start warming now splitting the vortex....maybe it will really fall into place for us. Although we've had quite a few snow falling days in a Sheffield it's never been more than an inch or two which is disappointing.
  21. Just plain old rain in Sheffield at the moment, however I'm visiting hillsborough so lower down.....hoping for a bit later maybe.
  22. Here's the start of a new spell of hopefully longer lasting cold! i can report snow falling in North Sheffield. Changing to hail now. It's surprisingly heavy and has given a slight covering in parts (hail covering)
