nothing here
not even rain
Prob for best. I imagine you’re way south of the 0C isotherm now. Have to wait until later when it digs back south

Just rain now.

@Chris.R I’ve just had a delivery to Dutton. A good few miles from the Mersey and still snowflakes even there. I think we are literally just inside of the 0C iso

The amber warning doesn't begin until 1500 in these parts. So far here it's been as expected - about 2 inches on cold surfaces with the initial push, now we wait for the pivot and resumption of precipitation focussed upslope Peak District/pennines and those close to the ridge. Further west there will be a shadow as always.
I’m more referring to the Welsh warning which started an hour ago for significant snowfall. Unless things change later, it’s egg on face. They have all of their timings wrong too I feel.

Heavy snow once more here.

No wonder they lost the BBC contract. People on this forum do a better job at issuing warnings than they do

Looks like things are just 4 hours ahead of schedule then.
Yep it’s really wet snow. It bodes well for better timing later when the cold undercuts once more

All bets are off for me then I'm not even going to try and predict what might happen next. all I'll say is if the 0°C isotherm has indeed gone north of us then rain and ice pellets this afternoon but more precip later on which should be snow again by then. Otherwise this morning's band was just too light and now freezing level is too high.
Rain has just turned to ice pellets and the largest flakes of the day

It is actually raining. Unbelievable. Something must've gone seriously wrong with the expected track or it is melting very close to the surface and still snow higher up.
Experience tells you that events like this always go this way. It’s a crazy little region we live in

Sun trying it’s best here too. The rain continues to fall. As Chris said, way earlier than expected.
Egg on face for the Met? Again?

Moderate rain. And just like that, another event lets me down.

Jokes aside, a midday temperature of 1C is impressive for this location in March.

Think the Met need to shift those warnings. N. Wales amber warning period has begun, and there’s no PPN!

He just gets a little upset when Buxton gets less than 16 inches of snow cmon @Kasim Awan it’s all to play for at your location!

Oh dear. Well the snow has eased in intensity, and as it has done so, it’s actually mixed with rain & ice pellets.
Front is now moving away. I thought it would’ve stalled & pivoted.

Met wouldn't know what an ice pellet was if it hit them in the face.
There is that all charts are unfavourable of snow after 3pm ish in my opinion.
We’ll see though. This is the ‘mighty north west’ our weather can defy all variables

It won't turn to rain. Worst case scenario mixed with some ice pellets late afternoon.
I dunno- text forecast, warning analysis & automated forecasts all favour something more ‘wet’ of nature falling. We’re dangerously close to a +’itive isotherm also. Experience of the area tells me it’ll turn
Heaviest snow of the day now falling. I’d say we have till 3pm before we have a break

As @Backtrack said bigger flakes falling now too.
Will go either way from here on mate. It’ll either intensity further as more moisture is injected from mixing out of colder air, or it’ll turn to rain. Option 1 would probably bank us a decent covering. I’m favouring option 2 though unfortunately.

Seems to have stepped up a gear. It’s settling on the paths now.

Quite surprised by that as it's sticking here in south liverpool.intensity drops off and it's small flakes then five minutes later we get a burst of heavier stuff
Yeah it’s coming down again now. Flakes are still tiny until more moisture is introduced later. But as that’s introduced, it becomes more marginal. Can’t see us getting more than a dusting on grass & other favourable surfaces. 200m+ event I think.
-
Disappointment written all over this event isn’t there. Flakes are tiny now, lost all the intensity, still isn’t sticking properly. Temp on the rise. 1.1C

Ground is too warm is the issue. There was no overnight frost so the ground wasn't allowed to chill so to speak.
Definitely. A shame really. There’s always something in the NW to scupper the chances!
3 minutes ago, Chris.R said:Flakes will be much bigger later on as T850s get close to 0
If we can hold onto the snow until later. The Met are confident that anything after 2pm will be rain!

It’s really struggling to settle here despite the temperature being at 0C. We need some bigger flakes to lay down a surface layer. Air is too bloody dry
