Sorry meant to add in the sheild zone.
60 metres of snow in an hour?
Just under a mile high now mate. Lol
60m above sea level. Even the lighter bursts are wintry. Very little/no rain

Warm layer at 925mb for areas below 200masl. Funnily enough it can be the same temp over in Sheffield but because there's no warm layer it's snow.
Disagree with that. It’s been snowing here for over an hour now, 60m

This snow has literally pushed the sport mode button. It’s fantastic. Coming down like there’s no tomorrow. Still not sticking though!!

Heavy drizzle ATM but sounds like the snow isn't far away.
tonight looks really nice on face value with loads of precip and getting progressively colder at 850. Question is will it settle properly I am wary about that now.
You sure it’s not ice pellets? I’m outside and there’s millions of tiny pellets of ice when the snow eases

Great news! Think western areas of lower ground closer to Wales so Cheshire West/ Wirral/ Merseyside may see some of the heavier sleet & snow overnight vs here in Cheshire East so hopefully some of it sticks for you
Hope so mate! We deserve it after all of this teasing the past couple of days if those super bright echoes on the radar so push this way, then it’s business. Everything else has been further north today, so why not those showers too!

Evaporative cooling finally poking its nose out of the clouds. Heavy snow, huge flakes. Temp nosedived 1C in a couple of mins. Starting to stick.

That stuff over wales has been sat there for ages. Hardly moving. I doubt it’ll make it past Chester.

Is this PPN ever gonna come back south? It’s on a mission northwards still!

Worth noting that there is no longer any rain. Even the small flakes are proper snow now.
-
Wet snow on and off. Heavy at times.

We also just had the heaviest snow of the day

Rather calm here. Not a great deal of wind. Hail has now turned to larger flakes. Just waiting for the Goliath flakes to fall.

Yep this’ll do me. Heavy snow mixed with hail. The best kind to settle.

Glossop is in the amber warning area… warning doesn’t start until 3pm and it’s pretty much 6pm through to 9am tomorrow that heaviest snow is forecast
Fingers crossed!
Hailstone!!!! My favourite!

Snowing hard again. Can it make its mind up?! I’m honestly not convinced the 0C iso has moved away

If it turns out as above, intensifying (like that area to the south on radar) and obviously cools down with heavy precipitation think it could get quite severe later this afternoon/evening… a lot of peeps might be getting a false sense of security atm around here… ps I’m taking about Peak District area around here…
1c very strong gusts coming through atm
I’d take those XC Weather graphics with a truckload of salt. It uses raw GFS output, prob one of the poorest automated forecasts around.
For your sake as a snow lover, I hope it’s correct though!

We had about 2 inches here. Couldn’t get up and enjoy it though, little lad was up all night vomiting.
Looked out window, looks like the march sun is making short work of the snow!
