Everyone always says "countryfile going to be intresting" "tricky forecast", but when is this on i still dont know !!

On the Yorshire thread there is talk of a "serious snowstorm" on Monday Night, but that would probably mean frontal snow for you guys, and the GFS show the percip making it up to Yorshire http://gfs.netweather.tv/gfs.20090207/12/63/ukprec.png, what are your thoughts on this?

So is this going to hit us on Monday Night?? I dont get why the latest beeb forecast show snow plasterd over southern england and not getting any thurther north than birmingham, meto warning pretty much the in the same area, if there was a chance of a "serious snowstorm" dont you think there would be warnings for Yorkshire, and beeb would show this on latest forecast? Or is it just the ECM & GFS alone predicting this (assuming there are other models)??

Does anyone think the temps are a bit exagearted by the beeb for tonight?? "-12c and even a few degrees lower in some parts", beeb 24hour going for -9.c for my location, seems far too low, even with the snow cover

Tbh i couldnt care less about the surface temps yet, im more bothered about the percip actually hitting us!!

Same here really, but melting on roads, got up to 3.9c , what i kinda like about the snow cover is that there are three layers to it, 1st layer-really good snow that is great for snowmen and snowballs etc. 2nd Layer-Frozen layer of ice which is keeping the snow underneath fresh & great for sledging 3rd Layer-Powedery crap from Thursday none event which is impossible to do anything with but has sugar coated everything, which makes the snow look fresh

I really doubt it will be heavy, not even briefly, more light-moderate with majority not getting higher than 3-5cm, even 10cm forecast by meto wont be anywhere above 200m even then hit and miss .............. Forecast -9.c by beeb 2night

No one really knows tbh, there is meant to be snow on sunday but no one really knows the timing, my guess is 3pm onwards.

Rapid thaw here, flowing streames on the roads, water flowing rapidly down the pipework, but grass & paths etc doing fine with little if any thaw, its mostly on objects such as trees and houses where the snow is really melting, need a topup asap, meto/beeb beta going for heavy snow sunday night, is this likely to happen??

The percip is moving north/NW !!!!!! Definatley not east on raintoday.com it shows it circiling roun the lowe moving in an North to North West direction

TBH thats what im thinking but i kinda know in the back of my head that its going to stall and move eastwrds, so far so good though! ........ Watching the percip NW of you could give a covering of 2-3cm perhaps??

Thats what im watchng, now im very doubtfull of it hitting here, as its stopped moving inland, does any one know wether it will move thurther inland and join the percip band down south? on the beeb graphics they keeep harping on about scattered snow showers in Yorkshire/Nw England travelling south bumping into the percip, but where are these showers??? been snowing lightly for past 10mins stopped now

Is the percip going to change track, because it appears to be moving north to slightly NW, if it carys on like this it will be in manchester!! But i would imagine it stalling then moving in an east direction ?

Had light/moderate snow in the morning leading to a dusting of 3-4cm, although it wasnt much i am vey glad this did happen, because a lot of the snow on paths had gone of colour, it is now prestine white now! Also any that snow that did melt has been topped up so good. Still thick with it and on the side roads still a few inches, around 20cm or so on the grass, and compacted ice/snow on the paths around 10cm. Golf course still has 50cm+ drifts and the lakes are frozen with lying snow . Iceday today- highest temp -0.2c Hoping for 2-3cm before saturday thingers crossed

Just drive over the pennines and boom your in narnia (or Leeds known to every1 else)

Whats your current temp?? Who thinks they will get the highest amount?? How much do you expect?? Whats the current conditons atm??

For those of you who use raintoday.com the radar is broke, i blame the met office a they are the source for this radar!!!

We had that type of snow falling on Monday Night, thin but a lot, it lasted for a good 12hours, it does take time to pile up though, but if you get that much snow falling (a bit more heavier perhaps), you will easily get 20cm+ , we got 28cm on Tuesday morning from it all and 50cm+ drifts hopefully same for you!! Im hoping it is heavy when it hits here!

Doesnt really matter if there is fog tbh it will be gone in a few hours

So whats the situation atm, is the percip moving in slower than expected or is it further north atm than expected? Im really hoping it gets here a few hours early that would mean a bit better chance of snow on roads , if going by the beeb i expect it around 8am, and expect light and some times moderate snow, if it persists throughout the day i would of thought 3-5cm widely on ground that didnt have snow previously, but considerable more on ground with snow on as settling wont be an issue, it will stick like glue!! Current temp -3.4c !!!!! Just keeps on dropping, according to beeb low tonigh of -2.c / misty as well

I wouldnt say early November more like mid december!! Highest temp- +1.5c Current temp- -1.4

The thaw has begun, the 28cm at Leeds Bradford Airport runway has gone now (because of snow ploughs etc ), though snow is heavily compacted and frozen, i have a more modest 20cm+ in my garden atm, but you can hear the dreaded drip drip noise, the snow begininning to melt of the roof . Due to the clouds dissapering and sun appering allowing temps to rise to 1.5c (rise of 0.6c in 30mins) sun was only out for 20 mins, fortuantley it has gone very misty and tempratures are dropping away now 0.8c, which should stop the thaw . As im typing the temps keep falling having to change it again and again currentley at 3:44pm the temp is 0.3c Current pic of table in back garden-

Just looked at my monthly average temp- December- 4.0c Janurary- 2.9c February (so far)- -0.5c
