  1. Im so glad we have a warning now   ........ The snow is defiantley thawing, but that is only on the ground under trees and under the edge of the roof where bits and pieces of snow fall of, some on the snow on the trees are general melting, and on the roads in lower elevations it has all gone but this is only on main roads. Temps been pretty cold all day just made it to +1.c at 12:49 now 0.9c
  2. Unfortuantley (for some) it has allready has old beeb forecast showed snow not gettin any further north than Sheffield, NOW they show snow getting as far North as Harrogate (which is good for me), which will make things a lot more marginal say south of birmingham
  3. I might be able to steal the title of most (CURRENT)) lying snow/drifts from south east, 28cm lying this morning on Leeds and bradford airpot runway!! 50CM+ DRIFTS!!
  4. Also the meto tends to overplay events, prime example last night snow event for yorkshire, "take action" warning not necessary, although LEEDS AND BRAFORD Airport had 28cm of snow on the runway!
  5. Whish i could show you some more pics Some more pics (4at a time limit, i fink)
  6. The event last night certainly delivered, and produced some of the best snow fall in many years- Heavy snow started at 3:30pm and lasted until 4am (moderate after 10pm), the snow piled up on the 5cm of snow allready on the ground, but it took longer on snow free ground, by 7pm the roads have around 3-4cm of snow on them (bear in mind this road is busy), while paths in excess of 10cm. Throughout the night the winds remained moderate leading to some good drifts, up to 40cm snow especially round the slightly hilly golf course. By morning (5:30am) the snow had stopped, the top layer of snow (1cm) is completley frozen, underneath is the soft stuff, the snow slowly began to melt at around 9am but temps really dive bombed and the water that was dripping of the trees froze instantly (see pics below) so thawing isnt going to be an issue here. The roads in Lower parts are mostly clear, as it melts really fast on the roads but not on paths at all. Here are some pics of what i got, bear in mind i took these pics at 2pm so a bit more was probably there earlier (especially on roads). Also around 3 snow ploughs have gone on my road (never seen them before), which has affected snow depths. Snow depth list (at 2pm)- Ground-15.9cm Drifts- 35.3cm in back garden, golf couse, 50cm plus Grass-20.2cm Front on curved part-23.4cm LBA-28cm (on runway). Also LBA is exposed while i have many trees walls etc stopping high depths. Table top-17cm PICS BELOW (NOTICE HOW THE WATER DROPLETS FORZE) Hmmmm only showing 4pics, transfered 12 NOT SNHOWING ALL PICS KEEPS COMING UP WITH ERROR
  7. No offence, but your beeing a bit of a spoilt sport, personally we did great for snow fall total, at 8am LBA was reporting 28cm lying snow on the run way, maybe i got more than you?
  8. I think we got a bit of rain on the backing edge as there are icicles hanging of lamps, where snow began to melt, but tht fact that there are icicles is a very good sign <_<
  9. im rather impressed with my 20cm of snow and 30cm drifts (sorry for boasting couldnt help it)
  10. looks like u plonked that snow there lol as its too messy
  11. Hmmm, what time will the pericp be gone by, please say after 6am!!
  12. Defo got 20cm here but on walls and stuff with 30cm drifts, probs around 10-15cm on ground, douubt bin men will be coming . Wish raintoday.co.uk was working meto radar crap
  13. 15-20cm snow here, been constant moderate snow since 4pm!! temp dropped again -0.5c here with a dewpoint of -0.8c
  14. 15-20cm snow here, been constant moderate snow since 4pm!!
  15. Drive up to cookridge 210asl (some parts up to 225asl, on golf course) in the morning expect a lot of snow!
  16. looking a bit marginal for you then, but if there is very light percip over you , when heavier stuff arrives your temps shud drop
  17. Its marginal (either snow or sleet), to get snow you really want dewpoints in the minuses, but temps doesnt matter .
  18. Is it snowing/setting in the lower elevations of leeds (specifically close to leeds ceneter) as temps in Beeston are 0.7c (dropped 0.4c in last 30 mins) and dew point is 0.3c?
  19. Where is your location in leeds?? Gives me an idea of conditons for tommorow morning in lower elevations, Up here in cookridge loads of snow
