Some storms edging north. Some quite large towers south of me and over the sea
-
Can see some lightning on the radar over the Lincolnshire area.
-
Rain is starting to get heavy again now.
Any thunder heard? Looks like everything is quiet now though
-
Must have been a few odd flashes has there has been no more since I posted last
-
Ooo some more lightning has kicked off just recently
On the radar that is.
-
Rain is once again falling in Darlington, not heavy for now................
Spot of rain here too
-
Lost the lightning activity now according to the radar. Gone quiet again and a little chilly too
-
A bit of the clearance with cloud breaking slightly. Still the odd spot of rain, but birds are singing in the tree and the blackbirds are tucking into the worms.
-
Couple of odd flashes in the North Sea recently
-
The thunder was great in that last storm, started off rolling and ended in a rather loud boom.
-
No gone very quiet for now after a couple of forked lightning displays about half an hour ago, not sure that I will see anymore but been a fab day like, the flooding is not going to be the focus!
I have a little pool of water in the garden too - but I guess other places will have some major flooding.
-
Seems the lightning activity has died, just the odd one further south east.
-
Anymore thunder to report, fellow Northeasters?
-
I saw clouds from all directions today, a bit of sea fret which has now gone. It is nice to see the actual bases of the storms rather than stratus.

Got a real pasting over the last hour, was quite scary at times. Still shaking after a large bolt of lightning somewhere over the Industrial Estate between Shotton and Peterlee. The thunder nearly knocked me off my feet.
-
Got fog rolling in now. I think I may have heard a very distant rumble of thunder.
-
grr I am being surrounded and still nothing, I am being teased
-
got a monsoon here.
Any thunder?
-
Same here, overcast and the odd spot of rain and drizzle over here too after that heavy rain earlier.
-
Very overcast here, I am glad someone is hearing thunder. I cannot hear any distant thunder due to noise pollution from some roadworks.
-
Got woken up by a torrential downpour, I am really surprised that there was no thunder, it was that heavy.
-
Very heavy shower in Cramlington road starting to flood
TONY
Was looking dark near here but looks like it has gone up your way. Any thunder heard? Very muggy out there.
-
Some beautiful colours over the North Sea from some congestus, also some cunims to my south. Was explosive earlier, saw a tower go up around 7.00 and the next minute it was an anvil. No thunder heard but had the odd shower around 6pm not far off Sedgefield.

A luminous floating sphere of what could be electricity was spotted near Brisbane, Australia, according to a video posted on YouTube.
The cameraman filmed the UFO at a distance in January last year, and believes it was ball lightning
As the object moves across the sky, it behaves similarly to lightning, flickering orange and yellow, and is accompanied by thunder.
It looks like a small moving sun and its size oscillates with each flicker as it travels around throughout the video which lasts over a minute.
Ball lightning is so rare that no reliable scientific data are available. It is said to appear after thunderstorms and be visible for several seconds, ie a hundred thousand times longer than flash lightning.
Some research has been done on ball lightning. In 2006, German scientists made plasma clouds like ball lightning above water. The balls lasted almost half a second and had diameters of 10 to 20 centimeters.
Last year, lightning researchers at the University of Florida used tethered rockets to trigger and direct lightning to the ground with a variety of materials, and managed to create some short-lived balls of fire.
However, based on these luminous events, ball lightning could simply be a vaporized material that is ignited by lightning and burns briefly.
That video was amazing

Storms have died again as they moved east.
I agree, mainly just the odd shower now
