  1. I think the shower clouds are starting to move in a more straight Easterly rather than ENE of earlier. (Looking good for Edinburgh and Lothians going by the radar).
  2. That shower looked like sliding along the Pentlands and a little South for us but then seemed to straighten up and now giving a more direct hit.
  3. Impressive and check the unbroken stream that looks like joining the A1 at Dunbar.
  4. That’s when living on this side of Town with a wee bit elevation gives you an edge. Although for once the word marginal isn’t in the vocabulary these last couple of days.
  5. Which one? I can’t believe the time already but the radar is loaded and I don’t want to miss anything.
  6. There looks like a lot more snow to come tonight going by the latest radar.
  7. Haha, all that stressing earlier is forgotten now. Although I do agree it has been a strange start to this easterly and like you, I expected more widespread showers from the off rather than waiting on convergence zones.
  8. It really is incredible at times. Could be a late one tonight.
  9. I had another wintry walk in the Pentlands this afternoon. Still very snowy in the higher areas.
  10. I was actually on a skiing holiday in the Alps that week and what we commonly call the Genoa low must have formed in the middle of that week as we got a huge powder snowfall in temps of -10 which was still going at the weekend when we left. We arrived back to a snowy Edinburgh with a thick cover of snow but didn’t see anymore fall.
  11. I used to love his breakfast tv forecasts, he loved ramping up the snow.
  12. Brilliant commentary LS It has been an absolutely fascinating model watching winter so far. Bluearmy posted earlier that the extended eps want to build a Griceland ridge!
  13. I thought this was very interesting from Mulzy in the model thread:- “Big shift in the medium and longer range EPS - significant northern heights back in the menu!”
  14. I had a walk up the hills this afternoon and the snow was deep but soft and wet. It was still snowing at around 1000 ft but quite wet.
  15. I agree, also pressure looks lower this time than some of the big easterlies in the past.
  16. I’d rather look forward to what is hopefully coming over the weekend and avoid all the break down chat on the model thread but I couldn’t help but have a wee look at the models and they look brilliant for prolonging the really cold weather with deep cold uppers and easterlies continuing for Scotland. The 2018 beast was brilliant but probably ended a bit too quickly as the cold block raced West and let milder weather back in from the South. Not long to go now for central southern areas while the North carries on with winter.
  17. That’s right, the south east of England bore the brunt of the cold 850’s and I think the high sank down on top of Scotland cutting off the cold supply from the East from the Thursday.
