    Evening folks, just wanted to share this wee video which looks to have captured the overhead lightning strike which caused the power surge into my house and lots of my neighbours, damaging tv’s and other electrical devices. This camera is around 500 yards away but you get a feel for the strength of the strike. The video was pinched from Facebook but thought it was worth stealing . IMG_1457.MOV

    No worries thanks, hopefully house insurance will take care of it. I heard that a house nearby had the electricity surge in and lift their flooring before hitting the Christmas tree and exploding the metal star on top.

    That storm last night must have caused a power surge. My tv is broken along with house alarm and virgin box . apparently a tree in a neighbours garden also got struck and split.

    OMG! All car alarms in the street going off including mine after lightning/thunder over head. Never had a bigger fright before, that was so close.

    Morning, have woken up to a covering of snow in Currie. Looks a bit slushy on the road but looks about an inch thick on cars. A good start to winter.

    Just saw amazing forked lightning above pentlands, probably just south of hills though.

    I'm up the pentlands near Harlaw and it's very dark to the south with distant rumbles of thunder.

    It's been a frustrating winter so far. I was really looking forward to it with the back ground signals and some of the long range models indicating an interesting winter but we just don't seem to have had the breaks. Plenty of time yet (and the photo attached is from April last year) but it would have been great to have had a severe cold spell in the depths of winter for a change.

    A few tiny wee flakes falling in Currie. Models look unbelievable for next week onwards ! Some great commentary in the model thread at the moment. Fingers crossed!

    Great work ! You deserve a break now before we start again in November (hopefully) ! I'm off to sunny Moray golfing tomorrow and weekend. Should be an interesting drive up through the Highlands.
