  1. What a vile morning. the last few days wouldn’t have been out of place across the 9 months of the year that don’t make up summer
  2. Aye back to normality. hope the low cloud and drizzle we have at the moment isn’t set for the day though.
  3. Did someone forget to order a heatwave for our region. wall to wall cloud and a strong gusty easterly wind making it look and feel anything but summery. never mind, at least it’s hot, hot, hot darn sarf.
  4. Far short of what out friends darn sarf have been having but not a bad day in the end and certainly good enough for my first sitting outside with a beer pub trip since before lockdown. hopefully a decent day tomorrow and we can be the sweet spot for the storms next week although no doubt the weather god will have plans to spoil that.
  5. Sunny end to the day here as well but it’s a shame that cloud ruined what would have been the warmest part of the day.
  6. Been cloudy here for the last hour so you are doing well and the radar is showing patchy rain around East Lancs and West Yorkshire.
  7. Hoping that the next hot spell lasts longer than this last one did. My regional lockdown has already been in force twice as long as my latest attempt at summer lasted
  8. Pretty poor start to the day up here but it’s been a decent last few hours and it looks like Sunday could be very similar.
  9. Well it’s been dry and even a bit brighter for the last couple of hours but apart from that, it’s been as bad as any mid summers day I can remember, and I’m old enough to remember some bad ones. Anyway roll on the end of this weeks 3 day drought and Fridays 24 hour heatwave.
  10. Thankfully we missed out on most of the showers today, and for that matter yesterday as well but a bit of a streamer has set up over the last hour with our name on it. tomorrow looking a complete washout for most of the region before hopefully a long awaited return to something a bit more like summer should be. I’m not getting to excited just yet though as the last couple of months have been a constant reminder that once the crap weather sets in, it takes some shifting and I can’t see this upcoming attempt at something more settled lasting more than a few days at best.
  11. Squall line just come through, hopefully followed by clearer conditions.
  12. Yeah not bad today really, felt quite warm in the sun.
  13. After days of pretty much wall to wall crap, at least I have managed to time a day off work with something approaching decent. just a shame it looks like the weekend is looking dire once again. never mind as Meatloaf didn’t quite say, “one out of three ain’t bad” Anyway time to mow the grass.
  14. Yeah your probably right about 89 but it was overshadowed a bit by 1990 which was a belter.
  15. From memory most 80’s summers were nothing special, certainly up here. July 83 was a near constant heatwave and summer 84 was largely decent with a drought and hosepipe ban and 89 was not bad on the whole but the others were at best mixed. that said I don’t think they came close to the utter crap we have endured this month and for a good deal of June.
  16. Must have been stronger in West Yorkshire although I agree it wasn’t hot but outside for 10 hours is enough to tan.
  17. Spent to weekend doing some decking for my daughter. Got wet yesterday and sunburned today.
  18. Not seen the forecast, is it looking dry or back to wet, wet, wet.
  19. I hope your right but this time last week, the forecast for the week just gone was very similar and we still ended up with pretty much continuous low cloud and a drizzlefest. more annoying still is that we endured that while our southern based friends enjoyed something bordering on a heatwave. anyway we’re not in control of it so I’m off over into West Yorkshire to fit decking this weekend and it’s looking like at least today’s session will be in the rain.
  20. Never mind at least we’ve got a decent weekend coming up.......... oh wait, the forecast has changed now with yet another weather front coming south through the region on Friday and Saturday. only light and patchy according the the BBC but no doubt it will cloak the hills with low cloud and give this part of the country another two days of drizzle. even the farmers round here have been caught out with what should have been a mainly dry week turning into a drizzlefest, mowing winter feed that is now starting to rot in the fields. Depressing.
  21. Agreed, other than last weekend and a couple of afternoons, the month seems of have been day after day of constant low cloud and drizzle and a car thermometer that seems to be pretty much stuck on 13c. July’s have a habit of being mixed up here but so far this one takes the biscuit.
  22. Maybe we should have Justin Hayward’s Forever Autumn as the North West’s regional anthem.
  23. Mainly dry and sunny since lunchtime but we’re in the middle of a heavy shower again now.
  24. Turned into a decent late Autumn type day now, shame it’s early Summer.
  25. Well that was good while it lasted, absolutely hammering it down again now
