  1. Just been out with the dog and that drizzle is wet although as the saying goes, there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing and mine stood up to today’s test.
  2. Don’t know about that, our living room is in the east of the region and it’s pretty damn cold in there. only September though so it’s a blanket rather than putting the heating on
  3. Sorry yes I could have worded it better although now our sunny morning has turned into a cloudy raw afternoon, the feel of the day wouldn’t be out of place in mid winter.
  4. First frost of the winter here this morning but hopefully a decent usable day ahead.
  5. Yeah same up here. We had a couple of days when a bit of wet snow fell but I’ve lived in the same house for nearly 25 years and I’m pretty sure that last winter was the first one where I never cleared a single flake of snow off the drive. Certainly a poor effort for my altitude.
  6. Must admit we’re down to our last 30 x 6 roll packs now although at least I can get in the spare room now only kidding but we were pretty lucky having enough in to last when the shelves were raided by folk with a weird type of siege mentality. you’d have thought that that type behaviour would have been binned along with the countless tons of out of date food but he ho, some people never change.
  7. Full blown blizzards and a full blown lockdown. i can picture it now, snow piled up on roads empty of cars and long lines of shivering folk outside supermarkets empty of essential items and bumbling Boris still insisting that the crisis is all to the people not following his ever changing messages. will it happen, Christmas will probably be mild, wet and windy but as for the other two, I think there’s a damn good chance.
  8. Yeah I remember a dusting of snow down to about 1200ft here at the beginning of October in the early 90’s so it probably was that one. i also remember the late October 2000 event when torrential overnight rain with some flooding turned into heavy wet snow. we ended up with about three inches of snow before it finally stopped and slowly thawed.
  9. Yeah the weather and lockdown are both aligning perfectly to spoil my two weeks holiday starting on Friday.
  10. Yeah it was a nice day with unbroken sunshine from mid morning but the fence panel rattling wind stopped it being an outstanding one. another decent one tomorrow and hopefully on Monday but then mini lockdown and crap weather both kick in on Tuesday.
  11. Not a bad weekend on offer and certainly a bonus for this time of year but up here in the hills we have got a strong easterly breeze blowing which I imagine will really take the edge of any warmth in the sun.
  12. Yeah today has been one of the few that actually turn out better than forecast certainly more sunshine than I expected and we got to 21c which is better than they were saying this morning
  13. Don’t blame you with the power walking. Whatever the weather throws at us, there’s a long dark winter on its way so make the most of what is left of light nights and warmth. After weeks of trying I’ve managed to get hold of a treadmill but I don’t intend to start replacing outside walking with it just yet and hope the weather plays ball
  14. Not been a bad choice of day to have off work. muck cleaned out of the gutters ready for winter and the lawns cut so hopefully the weekend is mine now to get out and do some walking.
  15. Not been the nicest of days but at least it has been dry.......until now. just glad I decided against a quick afternoon walk.
  16. Yeah same here, we often get decent weather once the schools go back and even into October it can be ok but I don’t feel as bothered if we get rain and wind in September onwards as I would in the summer months.
  17. Going off the forecast, today was never going to be a sunbathing and BBQ start to a BHW but even I didn’t expect a decent start to end up as rain from mid afternoon until early evening. Tomorrow is looking better; i just hope that they end up with a better level of accuracy this time around.
  18. We had some here in the South Pennines but we get them quite often in spring. it was sunny though and certainly dry but often coolish here out of the sun
  19. Out for a walk by 8 this morning and it felt damn cold under the cloud and in the nagging easterly breeze. other than the amount of greenery on the trees it could have been early winter. tbh it’s surprising how short the warm periods we have had this year, certainly up here as even though it was dry, we were still having cold easterly winds well into May. it then turned wet in June and July which suppressed the temperatures and now we are back to an autumn nip before we leave August. It may have been a longer, hotter summer for other parts of the country but I think the weather will be not be one of the things to tell the grandkids about when they ask what 2020 was like.
  20. Heavy rain this morning here with a drier spell before turning very heavy again from mid afternoon. River levels are pretty high at the moment but it looks like the drier few hours around the middle of the day may have just kept us on the safe side of flooding. locally though I’d say that today has edged out last weeks storm in the crappiness stakes.
  21. At least we are having some lovely summer weather before that lot arrives. oh wait it’s raining again
  22. Last hot and dry August I can remember was 1995. I’m sure we have had some since but that one sticks in my mind as the last few weeks of a long hot and dry summer.
  23. Roll on winter as I’d be pretty sure that if they had been snow, today’s showers would have missed me completely or been light and then pepped up again on the other side of the Pennines. we’ve had some poor days this summer but I can’t think of many worse than today.
  24. Either you’ve been lucky or 10 miles south I’ve been unlucky today as we’ve had heavy showers pretty much throughout. a bit of sunshine as well but it’s been sunshine between the rain rather than the other way around. hopefully tomorrow will deliver something better.
