  1. Been darn sarf with work today so have missed the rain at home but it looks like we've had a fair bit, certainly plenty of debris in the spots where run off occurs. decent sunny evening though.
  2. Definately looks like those of us in the eastern parts of the region have seen the more disappointing conditions today but it's improved as the afternoon went on and more sun than cloud now. reached 20c so nowt special but could have been worse.
  3. Hardly a deluge up here either although a few heavy showers overnight and this morning. hopefully this mess will clear off and an improvement on yesterday come through.
  4. From memory, 1980 summer was pretty average around these parts. i was playing a bit of cricket at the time and remember a few weekend games being rained off. it was probably similar to this year in fact with a few decent days followed by a wet spell although I don't remember much in the way of hot conditions. the others I agree being as you said, 83 and 84 were belters, 83 with a hot July and for us was also a cracking hay making period, other than the sunburn I got one weekend, 84 for its dry, drought conditions. then it was downhill into a few years of poor conditions and I don't remember much in the way of memorable heat until 1989 and 1990
  5. Damp miserable start with a gradual improvement into what is now a lovely evening. Then tomorrow sees a descent into what is looking more and more like another weekend washout before something better arrives just in time for the start of the working week. never mind, I suppose summer 2017 could be worse, it could be a repeat of summer 2012 instead.
  6. OMG, just had two rumbles of thunder. Maybe all is not lost after all.
  7. I think the drizzle has officially turned to light rain. at least the flower tubs won't need a drink tonight.
  8. 23c, sultry feel, threatening looking skies..........all the ingredients for a damn good storm and then it arrives, drizzle. if this is all that is left in the severe weather cabinet after darn sarf had first refusal on it can I please have my sunshine and drought conditions back.
  9. Damp, fog hanging on the tops and thoroughly miserable, it must be weekend.
  10. And so this years yo yo summer continuous, after yesterday's washout comes a really lovely day and at 21c, decent enough temperatures. personally I'd happily take today's conditions for the next couple of months but I can't see it happening.
  11. Disgusting days weather for mid summer with a system which should have stayed to our south deciding to annoy us instead. No doubt if the same set up arises on a cold feed in mid January then it'll reach as far as the north Midlands and we'll get nothing more than blue skies and sunshine.
  12. A cloudy start but the suns out again now, just hope it turns out as good as yesterday, especially as the forecast is showing a breakdown to cooler and more showery conditions from Monday onwards.
  13. A lovely sunny start to the day here, just hope this isn't as good as it gets for the weekend and we can share in some of the consistently dry and warm weather that others seem to have been enjoying for weeks.
  14. Summer of 76 for me, week after week of sun and heat or the winter of 78/79, week after week of snow and cold. I've clear memories of both and in both cases have seen nothing like it since.
  15. Better prospects for the weekend but after the last few days anything would be an improvement.
  16. Mildest part of northern England though, anything is possible.
  17. Agreed, it's been an awful day and made yesterday afternoon look half decent. maximum temperature here only reached 13c, as forecast but damn disappointing for only a week past the longest day and I wouldn't bet on it being higher than this in six months time, a week past the shortest.
  18. Heavyish rain this morning but mainly dry this afternoon and feeling pleasantly warm in what brightness came though. better than forecast in the end and having a weather warning was probably a bit OTT but the conditions were there for a good downpour falling on hard ground so on balance it was probably justified. as for tomorrow's forecast conditions...the less said about that the better.
  19. Interesting to see that the Met have me slap bang under one of the smallest weather warning areas you'll ever see so must be expecting something on the heavy side overnight and into Tuesday. i don't want weather like this in June so if anyone wants to take it off my hands it's free to a good home.
  20. Can't speak for others but it looks like today is going to be drizzlefest day here or at least that's what we've got at the moment. so much for a day of outside jobs.
  21. Today has been one of those rare days which actually turns out better than forecast. cloudy morning but a brighter and sometimes sunny afternoon and dry through when we were looking at drizzle and murk up here. still with a maximum of 16c it's poor compared to last weekend but not a bad day for a few outside jobs.
  22. Nowt in my part of east Lancashire, decent warm evening really.
