Temp 0.4c Dp -4.1c 74% humidity
Pretty much same as here which would be perfect for snow to fall and settle. There is just no shower activity on this northerly wind which is really disappointing. Fingers crossed for the rest of the week.
-
A decentish covering here from last nights showers, but it would appear we had little shower activity after midnight.
-
Not bad at all. Heaviest I've seen it in years
Very similar conditions to here mate!

Absolutely huge flakes here and really coming down. A decent covering on all surfaces already!
-
I agréé lol
Hahaha, don't forget you lot in the west have already had two snow events this winter
-
Heavy snow shower now. Already a covering everywhere, first time in 22 months! Massive flakes blowing around too

A light snow flurry here at the moment, nothing settling yet however.
-
Just started snowing fairly heavily in Louth, may it continue!
Send it this was precipitation princess. Good to see you on here again
-
A little hopeful for at least a dusting here. If that did happen we would have broken our laying snow drought. As for the weekend areas east of the A1 might do ok. It's just a pleasure to go and radar watch like you guys in the west. Fingers crossed anyway.

Worth a giggle on a Sunday evening http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/554183/Britain-red-alert-displaced-Polar-vortex-unleash-weather-hell-next-week
That's a great read and I thought Frosty was the cold weather ramper ☺ï¸! Seriously though the current models don't show anything this sever do they?

Not gonna be alot to discuss snowwise over the next 10 days, models hinting at a possible Northerly towards day 10 which some places may see some snow from but nothing widespread. Hopefully something unexpected will pop up soon to get this thread buzzing again. Also I feel that East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire could do with a good dumping just to even the snow distribution out.
It certainly would as we have not had a covering of snow for nearly 2 years. A potent northerly would be great for areas east of the A1. I honestly can't remember the last time a true northerly happened, always something kept out in Lala land on the models.

My brother lives in Malham and when i spoke with him today there was not very much at all.He came down to the Wakefield area this afternoon and drove through Skipton. The precipitation never got far enough north. It does, however, seem they have had some snow this evening.
How much snow was in Wakefield? Thanks
-
So W+S.Yorks and Derbyshire have tons of snow...while the rest of us can only dream of such conditions, someone mentioned that Paul Hudson said 'snow on hills, rain/sleet elsewhere'...which is exactly right, all of you posting about snow are around 100m asl or above...well for your information that is a hill, quite a big one, in marginal sutuations 30m can be the difference...all we've had over here on the flat land is rain/sleet...so be thankful for your hills...
I share your pain mate. Most of my family live in the Wakefield area and have plenty of snow apparently. Here in GRimsby we have had rain, sleet and sizzle. Let's hope February delivers for us in the east.
-
Just out of interest how much snow has fallen in Wakefield?
-
Light snow here at the mo
Send it down here please mate!
-
Yep, the front is fizzling out from the East, so I think anywhere east of about Lincoln is going to be out of luck. Story of the winter so far really.
It seems such a long time ago that I was able to post snow settling on this thread. It will be two years in March.lets hope we have a biting easterly or northerly during February.
-
Not expecting anything here tonight. When I first looked at the radar I though the game was on, but the fronts moving north are loosing intensity from the east. I can now understand why the warnings weren't for here. Good luck guys in the west, you have done pretty well this winter considering the synopsis we have had.
-
With a bit of luck the first below average month since August last year.

I dont post on here often, but after following this thread the last few weeks Iam puzzled to see the model output struggles to come right on a cold spell, but gets it right on the mild side.
Maybe one day it will get the cold spell spot on ???
I believe it has something to do with our default weather pattern of mainly westerly based wind direction. But fully understand your frustration. The phantom easterly of December 2012 was a typical example of what you have mentioned.

Well after years of waiting I have seem my first few snow flakes in grimsby! But as others have said air temperature and dew temperature have now risen resulting in rain.
-
Just turned to wet snow here, the first since March 2013. Its weird as the temperature has actually risen to 0.9C.
Edit: heavy now and laying, woohoo!
Has the flow changed slightly reef, as non seems to be reaching here?
Great to see parts of the region who thought they'd miss out, getting snow !
I want to join the party!
-
Main band is half hour away from you
If it's snow bring it on, sleet or rain I'd rather miss out lol. You should do fine up in Caistor
-
I honestly thought the beeb had mucked up their forecast of rain at the coast. I could see the bank of cloud heading in. Temp was -0.1c. Dew point was -1. Nice frost on the ground.
The temp rocketed to nearly 2.0c in 10-15mins. Had a bit of sleetyness but mostly rain. 4.4mm so far.
Possibility of showers behind the main band being a bit more wintry.
I wont hold my breath!!
The pre sleet conditions are what we currently have here. Road, grass and cars sparkling nicely. Perhaps missing out would be better if it means we will loose the cold frosty conditions.
-
Temperature just below freezing here with dew point of -1.7 so hopefully if or when the stuff hits here we might see our first snow flake for 22 months. The rain in the Hull area is a bit of a worry though. What are your thoughts on snow this week for East yorks and links? Bbc forecasts were very hard to work out.

Heavy snow here at the minute, already a good covering on all surfaces.
